Hmm. They seem to think it's actually a good thing. An extended cut of the films might work better. Anyhoo, can always get a DVD of Grindhouse if it gets released that that over the pond.

Around three weeks ago, I had the good fortune to see 'Grindhouse' in full. At a theater. And If you like a movie where the cars are fast, the women bad-ass, the violence extreme, and the stunts white knuckle.., Give 'Death Proof' a spin. I wasn't disappointed. Also, be prepared to fall in love with New Zealand stuntwoman, Zoƫ Bell. Know I did.

Jes to give you guys a heads-up, but the plot holes, continuity, and pacing of this movie do, as rumors persist, sorta suck here and there. Tarrantino won't be getting any awards for this one, and from the looks of things, that wasn't his point. With "DeathProof" he creates a "chic flick" that guys can really absorb and get behind. To the point of cheering and laughing at the end, along with the ladies! I can't reiterate enough the cool chase scenes, AWESOME stunt work, violence and right out balls this movie has. That's right. Balls. Excellent fun, especially on a 40' screen!

Yeah the continuity, plot holes etc are part of the grindhouse experience. I'm really looking forward to getting a look at this too.

I managed to get hold of copies of both the Grindhouse films - Death Proof and Planet Terror. Here's my take on them... Death Proof is Tarrantino's effort starring Kurt Russell as a deranged stuntman stalking young women in his 'Death Proof' car. Both films have been made grainy with a distinct 70's Grindhouse feel to them. This one started off a little slow for me with a bit too much inane banter (Tarrantino is usually the master of dialogue for me, but there was a little too much in the first half). The second half was right on the money with the right balance of humour and action. Zoe Bell who is a real life stunt woman has a great role playing herself (there was no WITH in that sentence boys!) and Tarrantino, Rose McGowen and Eli Roth have smaller parts too. Planet Terror is Robert Rodriguez's starring Rose McGowen, Freddy Rodriguez, Michael Biehn (Hicks from Aliens - doesn't get enough roles imo!), Josh Brolin (looking more like his dad than ever), the great Tom Savini and Tarrantino (of course). I consider this the better of the two films. It's a zombie action flick with loads of cheese and totally honest with itself. The characters are hugely over the top, as is the plot and the action, but it works wonderfully, even down to the machine gun leg Overall 9/10 for Planet Terror and 7/10 for Death Proof.
