As long as it treats the original story with respect and 'gets it' I'll be happy.
I must get that back actually- lent it to someone a couple'a years ago and didn't get it back. Or maybe I did. Flat's a bit of a two-and at the moment...

Saw it last night. Absolutely brilliant. Very dark - darker than even I expected. Excellent story and very well made. Some tighter editing could've shaved a little off what was a long film. There is an extended version that is 30mins longer coming out, so not sure whether that will be better or worse...
If you like super hero films shrouded in darkness, seediness and despair then this is the film for you. Top notch stuff!

'tis a great Graphic Novel, and a Great Film (The extended edition is still not completely faithful to the Novel) although I'm not quite sure I like what they did with the ending in the film

Dissapointed. I thought it was a good film, however, pointless sex scenes which is just padding to slow the film down. Unsympathetic characters and another cop out 'is that it' ending runed what could have been excellent movie.
Not the tour de force people said that it was. Very... meh. 5/10 avaerage ive seen much better.

I'm surprised you rated it so low, Rus. I agree that the sex scene was pretty pointless, but who I am to complain about that! I thought there were some sympathetic characters - Laurie, Dan and surprisingly Rorschach I thought was the most sympathetic of them all. I thought he was a fantastic character of a damaged human with still a very strong sense of right and wrong.

The movie does have more meaning if you've read the book, and I would rate the book higher than the movie

Very True (edited your post to so "many books" as opposed to "Many films [...] lower than their film adaption")

Saw it last night, I enjoyed it. Agreed, the sex scenes were unnecessary but I think they were there because films based on "comics" have a childish stigma attached to them and the sex scenes are there to counteract that, In the western world if you say comic you automatically think of something a little kid would read, this is no longer the case. The actor playing Rorschach put in an excellent performance. I would give the film 8/10. (there should be a little splash of blood on that smiley)
