Well, what can i say, fun to be had by all.
For me i was picked up by Stu, around 10:30 am outside my penthouse (i wish) in Woking and off we sped to Camp Nerfy in Chertsey.
Once there we found Rod, Tony, Mr & Mrs Brendan, Mr G and Pitbull all waiting for us. The plan was Mr G had a digital camcorder thingy, and we were to travel to many places featured in the novel where the Tripods appeared. Once there Mr G would film us pretending to be chased by tripods. (To be edited later with additional CGI and Jeff Wayne's fabby music!)
Myself i didnt know what was going on, i just ended up cracking up laughing. However at Horsell Common sandpits things took an unexpected turn. I ended up falling down a sandy embankment on camera. I hit the floor like a bloody meteor. Christ knows what it will look like on You Tube. I dare say i wont live it down for a long time. I was covered in thick yellow sand all over!!
We then went to Woking to see the tripod. Then to Maccy D's for a bite on something. Before working our way to Shepperton Lock where the battle for Shepperton took place in the novel. It was beautiful despite the fact the rain was pissistant.
We got back to Camp Nerf at about 1530 where Stu went home. I stayed until 2000 during which i engoyed Rod's barbie Q meat products and Cider.
It was a bloody enjoyable day i loved it. It was great.
I want to do it again.
A big thanks to everyone for making this a really cool day out. i want more and i hope there will be.
PS: A big thanks Mr G for the poster, thats going to be laminated and framed. ;D
Good to meet you all your a cracking bunch.
Richard.

Yeah, just to reiterate what Richard has said - it was a great day and a great crack. It was great to have met the people that I met - what a great bunch of fab, down-to-earth people they are. Can't wait to see the end result of MrG's video extravaganza; how ever it turns out, good or bad, (good no doubt ) it'll be a constant reminder of a great (but wet) day ;D Cheers guys p.s. Richard, I hope you've got all the sand out of your lens, that was one hell of a stunt mate!! ;D

Aye, just got home myself. It was an absolute blast. Staying up all night playing music, drinking alcohol and talking under the watchful eye of Nosher, The Bicycle boy! (dont ask). Enjoyed meeting everyone, pretty much laughed the whole weekend and the m(pop)oist weather didn't dampen our spirits one bit, just our clothes,m especially sitting under that bloody tree that emptied its fill of water all over us every 2 mins. We had Pitbull firing his mini Weetabix into nerfy's mouth via his hand made ballista.........which was nice, we had a full playback of the TWOTW album last night at 10-11pm (couldn't leave without that). Running all over Woking was lots of fun, embarassing at times due to the unsuspecting public becoming an audience whether they liked it or not. Overall an absolute cracking weekend. Cheers Nerfy for setting it up, (and for the spare tent! much appreciated!) cheers to Rod for booking the site, and cheers to everyone else who made it a very memorable time! Here are the few pics I took. Pitbull setting up his ballista Rod Glenn (richardburton) Brendan and Caz (Poyks and Mrs Poyks) eating Pot Noodle for breakfast! (oh and Rod's hand ) The Tripod Sculpture in Woking Town Centre. This was truly stunning up close, pictures don't do it justice at all at all at all (from the left) richardburton, RustiSwordz, Nerfy, Mrs Poyks, Poyks, Stu, Pitbull, mrgrotey The fallen cylinder featured to the side of the tripod sculpture The site of many a drunken word spoken. (Starting left) Poyks, Mrs Poyks, Pitbull, RustiSwordz, Nerfy, richardburton, mrgrotey. I'll be working on the video over the next few days and will upload as soon as humanly possible, should be a great laugh ;D SAUSAAAAAGE!!!!!!!

I am slowly recovering from the most awesome weekend of my life. My stomach still hurts from laughing and my whole body aches from all that running. It was an absolute pleasure to finally meet you all. I shall definitely be attending the next one. Some of you may know I'm a seasoned pro at forum meet ups. 5 Red Dwarf Conventions, 3 HHGTTG outings,a P.R.A.T.S. meet (Planet Rock Radio) and now this. This one has been the best by far. I was more involved than at a convention, laughed more than at a PRATS meet and talked more than at a Hitch Hikers outing. If there is anyone out out there that feels they might not enjoy one of these meet ups then it must be in your imagination. You lot really need to get out more.

That was bloody awesome! Talk about a good time, it was pure undiluted fun!! You'd have thought that a rainy day in Woking might have dampened our spirits, but on no indeedy! ..if anything the weather actually added to the fun and silliness. I've got some video of our weekend, which I'll bung on YouPoop in a while. Great weekend, brilliant company!!

I've just got back after dropping Nerf off and just to echo what the others have said it was an absolutely brilliant weekend. We laughed our asses off pretty much constantly from Friday evening all the way through to 11am this morning. Was sad for such a great weekend to end. I will look forward to the next one. You are a great bunch of blokes (and lass of course, Caz ). Can't wait to see the vid! SAUSAGE!

Just got in myself (thanks to some deadly skillful driving by Mr Burton). I'll just reiterate what a marvellous, m(pop)oist and sausaaaage-y time it really was. I think the video, when edited by the talented Mr Grotey, will speak for itself and give you an idea just how mental and fun it really was! Looking forward to that! Thanks to Richie B, Pitbull, Mr G, The Poykses, Stu and Rusti for joining me on this foolish quest... and for making it so damn enjoyable (despite the best efforts of the rain and Nosher the Bicycle Man)! What a top bunch! I don't think my liver will ever forgive me... but I agree that there must be more board meets! Cheers all!
