Norman Lovert has stated on his myspace that he's not involved with the current project. This it due to a bit of a feud between him and the shows makers. Oh well... What about Hattie Hayridge as Holly? I don't think she was ever as good as Lovert it the role but she had her moments.

Anyone watched this? Part 1 was a disappointment, seemed a bit flat. Second installment was a lot better though. Looking forward to the finale tonight.
I miss the laugh track though. Holly too.

I thought it was good...... but I ended up feeling as though I hadn't watched Red Dwarf at all. It didn't feel right somehow.

I saw them all, the biggest problem was the lack of a laughter track, I just don't understand why someone would make that decision to omit it. I adds so much atmosphere when its there. Just remember that only fools and horses episode/film that didn't have laughter, it was shite, plain and simple. Other than that I thought it was quite good. Cat wasn't quite as good as he was before, being a lot older probably but I liked it. It wasn't as big a disaster at all as I thought it was going to be.

..the biggest problem was the lack of a laughter track, I just don't understand why someone would make that decision to omit it. Yep, that was almost eerie at first! It took some psychological arm wrestling to remember it was a comedy show we were watching! I guess they think it's going to come across as a more mature and film like production without the laughter track; it actually just made it feel unfinished.

I missed 2nd and 3rd instalments, so I'm going to have to catch repeats of those but the first I thought was ok, but as has already been said lacking a little. Rimmer had a few really funny lines, but the rest of the crew just seemed a little listless. Overall it was ok, but nothing like as great as the earlier series.

I missed the laughter track, too. But soon cottoned on. According to Mr Llewelyn they couldn't film in front of an audience with all the green screen and suchlike they have to use now for shows like this. And that makes sense having seen the 'making of' that was on after part 3. A canned laughter track would have been an abomination... do they still do that? The 'Blade Runner' offshoot! (Sorry, Rod, I know you missed all that!)... weird. But I loved the way the plot was turned on it's head again and again. Well, I thought it was most satisfying as seen as a whole (because I watched all three episodes back to back later). Certainly, the actors easily fit right into their parts after nine years. Apparently all the crew would be up for more RD (see Robert LLewelyn's extremely ace 'Carpool' vid blogs and Twitters discussed elsewhere on this very forum). This may well have been the movie that never was. BTE should have been shown all the way through in one piece, initially, to my mind. That would have been great. DVD will be out in a couple of months. (The making of was a hoot but waaay too short). We can but hope for more. As for Holly, apparently Norman Lovett (oddly he was the one well known face in a mad, but great fun, goreflick called 'Evil Aliens' I bought a while back. But what else has he done?) is against... perhaps Hattie Hayridge could return? Or Queeg??

It was OK but I think the jokes were spread a little too thin, there was the same amount of humour in the 90 mins as you would normally get in an old 30 mins episode and I agree with the rest of you about the studio-audience laughter, I also missed it, but I would rather have nothing if the only other option was canned laughter.

I have to agree that it should have been shown all at once. After the first two epsiodes I think many were left thinking; 'wtf? Surely not just ripping off League of Gentlemen Apocalypse... why would you do that? It was rubbish...'
Fortunately it all comes together in the end, although lacking the pace and energy of the old series (series 1-6... there really weren't any more after that were there?)
