You got talent and imagination boyo. Even after my short success I always had more fun thinking outside of the box... tell you what, talk to me later. I may be needing a documentary on War of the Worlds fandom for my DVD, and I am in the states I'll be needing someone Europe side to brush one up for me

Ok ill be honest guys i'm going to be backing away from my artwork for a while. Its not really working out the way i like it to and recent events have demoralised me a lot. The truth is in the digital age my quaint pencil art is frankly utterly irrelevant no matter how good it is. Ive also seen the quality of many artists out there and frankly i will never be to that standard. Guys half my age with twice the talent. I feel like a dog thats run out of tricks. With the Anthology turned to dust my only real chance i had to make something of my art is dead face down in the bath. I really dont know what to do and my enjoyment has turned to stress. I need to work out what to do, where to go from here if at all. I wont take down any art of mine on the web but sadly i wont be adding to it. Sorry.

Oh, Rusti, your art's fantastic! ;D It's much better than anything I could do. Many people still really love hand-drawn art and will respect your brilliant work.

Rusti you're being a bit hard on yourself, your designs are great. I've been trying to get my work published for 25 years. once in a while it works and someone likes your work and you think I've made it. The record company Landfall asked me to do 4 album covers, I thought yes I've made it. work rejected. Computer & video games magazine asked me to do a cover, I did. work Rejected (The bastards never returned my work or any money). One of my posters appeared on a documentary about the Titanic and the same picture appeared on an episode of 'The Osbourne's' great I didn't get any money for it though, I have several stories like that. I'm never going to make a living at the art game but I feel as if I've left my mark on the world and I feel good about that. So don't give up, try to get into colour illustrations.

Don't be disheartened mate, I've spent half of my life with people who have shat on my music from a great height. Multiple rejections do get very hard to bear because it does make you feel temporarily defeated. In the words of Matt Berry 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!'. I love your artwork Rusti, it's truly original and very inspiring. Have a breather by all means but never give up.

Rusti, for what its worth, your pencil art is anything but quaint. By that I mean its dark and organic. The kind of art I grew up admiring. Yes there are thousand of young guys out there getting into cgi and digital art in general, but the difference with fine fellows like yourself and Lonesome is this ; you CAN draw. Comparing digital art to what you can do isn't a comparison at all. Its like comparing pencils with meccano. We will always need traditional art like we absolutely need people who can write and not type. If we are not careful, the arts of writing, drawing and painting will go the way of the dodo. Guys like you have to keep it alive and Its already going full circle. Its just that cgi is the new kid on the block.. Like the guys here say, have a break and get your insipration back, read a few 2000ad's! kindest regards mate

You shouldn't give up, you should keep drawing if only because of any enjoyment you might get from seeing a completed piece. Although CGI is good, I'm honest when I say I wish I could draw half as well as you can. My skills with the pencil and paper are quite crap. Maybe have a break for the time being, but I wouldn't throw it all away either. Perhaps you could find other ways to do it all? Have you ever considered storying boarding for films - that's just a thought that popped into my head then. Story boards, particularly for smaller companies usually begin their life on paper using pencil. When I've story boarded some of my animations and filmed it looks really appalling and almost useless. For example, I just did a quick google search for storyboards and here's one I found for Jaws, and another for the Pacific. Some story boards do in the end make it to the public, while many do not that's not to say that they're a complete waste of time because an excellent storyboard can help make a director's life so much easier. You can see those examples and look at your own work, I think you're more than capable of producing something like that, if not better in many cases but your style to me is similar. Perhaps something to think about?

Yeah i think story boarding is the way to go, ive been reading a few old scripts to this end. I will give my art a break for a few months i think. Recharge the batteries and do some research instead.
