Hey folks and mates, been awhile and been nasty nasty hot here . I finally saw the new star trek movie. i loved it. any thoughts about it?

I thought it was really good, much better than expected too. I though the guys who played Spock and Kirk really nailed their mannerisms and ways. There was enough humour for this sort of film without having too much to make is a comedy. I didn't really like Simon Pegg's contributions though but the film as a whole was really enjoyable.

I agree it was extremely well done. Usually when a 'franchise' is relaunched, or a movie is made from a TV show*, they really screw it up and change way too much. In this case, they changed things a lot for a relaunch but actually explained things without nullifying the past 44 years.
* I don't consider the previous movies a 'movie of a TV show'. They were continuations of the show.
