I wonder how this is going to turn out. The memory of Hines' earlier atrocity is still fresh and painful. I don't know if I can take another embarrassment like that.

I only just saw saw the trailer now, and I'm not gonna lie but for me that 30 second trailer was better than his entire last film. Sadly that was the problem I noticed with his previous attempt to, the trailer was much better than the film and contained the only decent tripod animation. Maybe he really has learned something from last time.

Hey there, Thunders. It certainly has been a while since we last 'spoke'. I'm doing fine, how are things in Oude Pekela?

That looks great, Thunders. I especially like the astronomy pics. I've been keeping busy as well: www.youtube.com/stevin89

Oh good god he's at it again!!! It's been a long while since i've been on this forum (and the one before ;-) but now it seems like just yesterday we all embarked on the Timmy Hines journey of discovery. It's funny as I was chatting to a friend about another fan film which has just been released of the caper crusader kind which also ended up being a turd after the director came out and said the familiar "this is going to blow everyone away!", "we have spent ££££££ to make this the greatest fan film, because we are all fans", "we are all professionals and we are going to raise the standard" etc. etc. I told him how it reminded me of the whole Pendragon WOTW saga and how that ended up! I noticed on the teaser clip how he's brushed up on some of the effects and I kind of like the direction he's taking (direction is probably the wrong word . But like everyone else who remembers the good ole' days, i'll just wait for it to be released (if it does). I wonder if a certain person is lining themselves up for a parody?? ;D

Seems they cancelled the 2011/2012 tour and are now planning a new 2012 USA tour with a "media announcement" coming soon... No new footage or images aside from a new film poster:

I see he's going for a sort of steampunky look. Not sure it works, but it's certainly an improvement on the anorexic metal chickens of the original film...

It does annoy me when they stick rivets all over a period model. Response: "But it's Victorian" said in an adenoidal tone "they used lots of rivets in Victorian times." Yes! Humans did, but the Martians are supposed to be thousands if not Millions of years ahead of us, would they still be stitching metal together with rivets? Response: I'm just saying.... It's Victorian times, they did use lots of rivets in Victorian times."

;D ;D
That's what I noticed too... It does look rather mechanical so that's a good thing.
Overall I like the rather silhouette-like images of the Fighting Machine in the trailer with those whirling tentacles. But for some reason I always like silhouette-like images of the machines better than super detailed ones...

Liked the trailer and thought it was ok. I don't know, maybe I've missed something. The tripods in the trailer don't look anything like the pic.
I don't like the design with the rivets and the overall look of this tripod or whatever it is.
Pretty new to this board so not so much in the know as others. When is this new movie coming out?

...maybe I've missed something. And some! *gibbers insanely* ;D ;D ;D ;D As you're new you won't know the background to Pendragon's original WOTW film released in 2005. Suffice it to say it was a cinematic (well, DVDatic, as the wretched thing never escaped into a cinema) atrocity of the first order. I shan't say any more as to think about the appalling saga - the exaggerated claims, the broken promises, the threats of lawsuits, the crushing disappointment - risks opening the gates to a hellish eldritch madness from which there is no hope of escape and merely invites a bollocking from the mods...

Sometimes I wish I hadn't started my effort at all then I could add my two penn'orth without sounding competitive. But..... as a fan, I found Timmy's film the same way you chaps did. I bought a dvd, put it in my DVD player and a strange version of "Wainright Walks the Rockies" appeared on the TV - which then occasionally retuned itself for brief moments to "The B-Movie Channel" showing the 1972 classic " Attack of the Robot Chickens" . Im harsh I know. Tim simply didn't do his research. I doubt he's ever set foot on UK shores. If he had, he wouldn't have put The Journalists house in the middle of a corn field, and filmed the London scenes outside a Seattle shopping centre. I'm not sure what he's trying to do with this new effort but the Tripes are an improvement even if they do look like a motorbike thats been put through a car crusher. They will certainly tick boxes for some fans. I say good luck to Tim and I hope he manages to improve on the first film. Im just not convinced that WOTW is something you can half do, or nearly do. You either do it properly or not at all otherwise expect the Wrath of Fans. I would no more steampunkify WOTW than I would make a steampunk version of Gone with the wind. Lonesome is right but also flags up the point that Tim Hines is trying to please his audience by giving them what he thinks looks right. He's playing safe maybe? Am I biased? I suspect so...

Hi Steve,
I just wanted to offer my support for what you're doing, for whatever that's worth, and just say that I'm very impressed with what I've seen of your work. I think the tripods you've created look absolutely mega and it's great to see somebody who genuinely cares about doing an authentic version.
Please keep up the great work. It seems at present you're our only hope in succeeding in staying true to the book.
This is one book that I read regularly as it's so enjoyable and never ceases to amaze me. It truly was way ahead of its time when written by the genius, Wells.
It's very disturbing in parts, really disturbing to the point where I used to have nightmares about it.....in an entertaining yet terrifying way.
