Looks flippin mental! In a damn good way. I've always thought Rutger Hauer was great, but he's largely disappeared into obscurity over the last few years. Glad to see him making a come back.

Hobo with a shotgun?........ is that by Dickens or was it Shakespeare?

The IMDB synopis: A vigilante homeless man pulls into a new city and finds himself trapped in urban chaos, a city where crime rules and where the city's crime boss reigns. Seeing an urban landscape filled with armed robbers, corrupt cops, abused prostitutes and even a pedophile Santa, the Hobo goes about bringing justice to the city the best way he knows how - with a 20-gauge shotgun. Mayhem ensues when he tries to make things better for the future generation. Street justice will indeed prevail.

So... is it a comedy?

It's hard to tell with a Rutger Hauer film, they usually look like comedies, but I think that due to the low budget type of film.

I also detect shades of Harry Brown in this: old man sick of society goes on a vigilante spree.
As for a comedy, I'd say its a black comedy or a serious movie with comedic elements like Clockwork Orange.
Either way it looks really surreal.

What other films has Hauer done? Anything good?

The original version of The Hitcher is probably his personal best with Blade Runner a very close second. But also look out for Blind Fury, Split Second, Ladyhawke and Flesh & Blood.

I would certainly agree with your first two 'The Hitcher' and 'Blade Runner' Though not necessarily in that order. Blind Fury was a bit too far-fetched to be believed....... Unlike Blade Runner. ;D All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Isn't Blade Runner based on a book?

It is a good scene.
I've read the book, but haven't seen the film yet. I plan to soon, though.
