As stated earlier, This subject is a can of worms. Eugenics in the Victorian era was an idea put forward to rid the world of unwanted defects in the next generation, this sounds cruel and heartless to us in these enlightened days, but it's only what nature has done through natural selection since the first cell divided. Nowadays - thanks to modern medicines - people are surviving inherent diseases that would have killed them off 10/20 years ago and subsequently they are now passing their infirmities onto their children, Although I am not an advocate of eugenics I can see a future where every member of the human race will carry a debilitating or even life threatening disease, which is only held at bay by a cocktail of drugs. then all it will take is a break down in society and the whole human race will collapse like a stack of dominoes. Hopefully modern science can weed out the inherent defects before the collapse of civilisation. Our disgust towards eugenics today is because we do not wish to be associated with the likes of A. Hitler who used the idea of eugenics as a weapon. Oh yes welcome aboard 'evadestruction'

There is a very interesting section in Andrews Marrs book "History of Modern Britain 1900-1945" about the origins of Eugenics and much of Hitlers belief system. It makes for shocking reading...
