Well I normally only read sci-fi novels and thrillers, so unless you count “Aliens” novels or “The Loch”, I have only read one horror novel in my lifetime.
Steven King’s “Cell” is the only horror book I have ever read and I really loved it, so I guess that makes Steven King my favorite horror writer.

"Cell" is a great book but i thought the ending was a bit rushed, also it seemed a little bit too close to "The Stand" imo!

Yeah, I thought Cell was a good read too, but it does have a lot of similarities to The Stand. It did end rather abruptly too, but I wasn't disappointed. The start when the pulse first hits is truly brilliant.

I do like quite a few of Koontz's books, especially some of his earlier 'true' horror stuff like Phantoms and Twilight Eyes.

The only thing I've read by Koontz is A Werewolf Among Us, which isn't at all what the title makes it sound like-- it's a mystery involving robots and cyborgs.

Hmmm, haven't heard of that one. Is it worth a read?

I can't recommend it very highly, sorry. Not really bad, just fair. If I had liked it more I would have read more by Koontz.

Well, if you want a really good Koontz try Phantoms - it's well worth a read.

[glow=red,2,300]Hmm.. I have a deep love of old books so Dracula is up there. For something that actually gave me a shiver, the only piece of writing that ever did so, it's The Whisperer in the Dark by H.P. Lovecraft.. so awesome! Lumleys Necroscope books are good and Myself, Demon Angel and my Dad all really enjoyed Flesh and Blood by Graham Masterton.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]I'm curreently reading an e-text of the epic 'penny dreadful' 'Varney The Vampire' that substantially predated Dracula and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]I'm reading the gutenberg version from here:http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/14833 but it is less than half the chapters.. I got the remainder from here: varney.50megs.com/default.htm (scroll down to the text archives link for whole zipped chanks) The first chapter is better than the following chapters so far and I've heard it looses itself a fair bit in the second hundred chapters but I am thoroughly enjoying it.
