Well deserved IMO. The scene is quite unbeatable, and John Hurt played it out perfectly!

Nice one. I totally agree - the whole film is a superbly crafted classic.

Yeah John Hurt really does play out the scene as if hes in fecking screaming agony, the way he half screams, gurgles his last breath really freaked me out when i first saw it. Gives me the willies even now.

A L I E N is the greatest movie ever made, nothing comes close so it's no surprise that it hit No 1 in that chart.

John Hurt is a phenomenal actor. Both he and R.S. did that type of scene first and they did it the best. Despite a hundred various imitations. A truely shocking cinematic moment and a well deserved honour. Not more than a year later, John Hurt was nominated and received many awards for his role in this incredible movie. www.imdb.com/title/tt0080678/

Yes, this deserves it not just for John Hurt's incredible performance but also that of the other actors in Ridley Scott's milestone film. John Hurt has proved himself time and again a superb actor who isn't afraid to tackle controversial roles. A good choice!

Aye, every man (and woman) jack of em acts their arses off. Loved Yaphet Kotto's Parker and Harry Dean as Brett - those two make a great double act and offer one or two great comedic moments which act as welcome respites against the growing tension in the film. Sigourney is great of course too, as is Tom Skerritt as Dallas. Veronica Cartright's screaming hysteria easily rivals that of professional screamer, Jamie Lee Curtis! And Ian Holme has a fantastic brooding, sinister presence as Ash.

Giger's work takes you to the edge of your imagination, then pushes you over it! Brilliant!
