yes, yes...the 80s were sort of "anything goes" which was pretty cool on the whole. I agree that there was a lot more room for personal style. But.. *shudder* I do miss guys in make-up, though. Always liked that. What is the matter with you lot?? That era kept me going through my puberty. High heels and Rah Rah skirts, phwoar!! You just take a look at teenage girls now. Jeans and five t-shirts. Where did curly hair go? I can't tell one from the other. They all want to be the same. I don't mean that in a perverted way either. My son has had about five girlfriends since he left school four years ago. I keep thinking he's bringing the same girl home. Same is true of cars. You knew your Quattro from your Capri, your Maxi from your Fiesta, back then. Nowadays I get confused between a Micra and a Punto. Everything had WAY more style then. ;D

A girlfriend at the time put some make up on me. Completely forgot I was wearing it and went to my Brother in Law's party. Full of drunken Irishmen who kept looking at me funny.

That was so good!! Good to see Gene Hunt back on form! I wondered where it was going at first, but the realization of a parallel concept is quite exciting. It plants the whole mystery of what happened to Sam back in the limelight and starts the ball rolling again. I'm so pleased it's based in '81, one of my absolute favourite musical years; the music was brilliant and can only go on being as good. Drakes character got on my nerves a bit at first, but she's very slowly growing on me. She has the similar brash characteristics of Chloƫ Annett playing Kochanski in Red Dwarf, so all is not lost! On the whole it left me feeling great, just like Life On Mars did, so I'm looking forward to the rest!!

Yes, she annoyed me too at first but I think she'll settle in. We had to go through all that 'I don't believe in you, Hunt' stuff once before with Sam Tyler. It seems that this will all follow a similar pattern as LOM did. But Gene Hunt is still ace and I loved the Miami Vice/machine Gun/Boat sequence. And the music has been pretty top too. Also we can have fun spotting the Bowie/Clown in the background as events unfold. The barely caught glimpses of him in various scenes tonight reminded me of that Ghostwatch show (if anyone remembers that). Looking forward to next week.

It got off to a bit of a shaky start for me - the awkwardness of the acting showed a little, but as soon as she dropped into 1981 it jumped up a notch and then Drake's okish acting became much better when bouncing off the ever brilliant Hunt.
Looks like it's going to be damn good.

They should just rename it Gene hunt the series.
Dont like Drake, irritating there are better actresses out there.

Apparently this one may also stretch to two series then there will be no more Hunt.

Such an awesome character it'll be a damn shame to see him go once and for all.

Aye that's true and that could make for an interesting finale to Ashes to Ashes if there's going to be no other spin offs.

Well its ok. Hunt is brilliant but I can't stand the female character Wish they had done a straight series as its lost the excitement of the original Just to see Hunt & co doing a Sweeney would have been brill

Wierd thing is if that robber is real... then so is Hunt... The first criminal in LOM was real too. Sam only imagined him younger. That's the whole point, isn't it? I loved every minute of it. I had no problems with any of it. If you compare it with the rest of the shite on TV there's no denying that it's supreme watching. ;D
