An absolutely awesome pic. Well done! Captured the Martian sub perfectly.

That's amazing! I'm well chuffed that my daft story has inspired you in some way and I can imagine the characters squabbling and the soldiers spilling out of her to face the Martians hordes. I can't really describe how it feels to see something from your imagination brought to life in that way. It's really quite something and is a total surprise! Awesome! Perhaps, if you have the time and inclination, you might like to have a crack at a Human Fighting Machine or The testing of the Flying Machine?

Perhaps I should mention to those who don't know, 'Nautilus', in my novel, is a huge submersible found floating derelict off the coast of England. The humans find it very useful later on...

Great Story, Great Artwork. What we need is a book we can hold and read D.F.

Well he's started the lengthy process of sending it out to agents. It most definitely deserves to be published - unfortunately these things just take time.

Wow! Thank you, Nerf! (And everyone else as well! I'm glad you all seem to like it. For the past twelve weeks I've been wondering how this might go over. But the concept just seemed a natural. Plus, it was rather fun just letting my imagination run free for awhile. Hmmm... A Human Fighting Machine would be quite a challenge. And a flying machine could be quite interesting as well! We'll see... I need to get my own bloody site finished here 'fore much longer. Thanks again everyone!

Ok, i guess i'm going to have to be the resident a-hole. I like your renderings but I have to critique them. First one: the spaceship in front of the planet. I think that some of the textures that represent lighted windows are a little stretched in places, giving them a 'blurry' look to the edges, and maybe somewhat too large overall... also, possibly too yellow. I'd think that they would lean towards a whiter color if they were viewports with the light from the inside shining out. That is, if they are windows at all, which I'm assuming they are. As for the planet... nice textures but I think you have the bump mapping set too high, unless i'ts a VERY small planet. Second one: space station in front of a planet. This one is ok for the most part, I still think the bump mapping on the planet is too high. I like the windows better on the space station. Third one: pyramids. I don't have a real problem with this one overall, except that the edge of the pyramid in the foreground looks too sharp. Possibly you can bevel that closest edge and raise the bump mapping a little to give it a rougher look. Fourth one: tripod attack. I don't have a problem with that one. Nice. Fifth one: falling star. Cool. Maybe the leading point of the 'meteor' could be brighter. I just wanted to offer some constructive criticism since I didn't see any at all from other people. I hope you don't take offense because I like your renderings, but it's a habit for me to look at stuff like this critically since I took so much of it myself when I was in school for 3D animation. edit: Whoops, didn't see that Nautilus rendering. The only thing I would change would be the brightness of the searchlight. Otherwise, you've communicated an underwater scene pretty convincingly.

malfunkshun,
Thanks for your critique and comments, as well as taking the time to check my stuff out. Some constructive criticism now and then is an essential for any artists improvement. And your comments are as close to objective and polite as any artist could hope for.
Your point of view is welcome and again, thanks for taking a good look at each of my works.

The Martian sub got me thinking about how it might be the Martians' version of the Thunder Child. I can imagine the song now...
There were machines of shapes and sizes Scattered out along the bay And I thought I heard her calling As the tripod pulled away The resistance must have seen them As across the coast they filed Standing firm between them There lay Martian Child!
Moving swiftly through the waters Heat Rays blazing as she came Brought a mighty metal War-Lord Crashing down in sheets of flame Sensing victory was nearing Thinking fortune must have smiled Martians started cheering 'Come on Martian Child!' 'Come on Martian Child!' ;D
