Well, as usual, the little-seen Australian film isn't even one of the choices. But that would be my favorite.

Never heard of that Australian version before. Looks interesting. Too bad there isn't more information about.

Never heard of that Australian version before. Looks interesting. Too bad there isn't more information about. Looks like in the Australian version it's Wells in person who takes the role of the journalist.... I don't remember if the name of the journalist is ever mentioned in the novel.

No, the Narrator's name is never mentioned. But it's not too much of a stretch to think of the Narrator as Wells himself, since both were writers and philosophers, and I found one review that said the Narrator can be thought of as being Wells himself. Mind you I'm not defending the decision to give the nameless Narrator the name of the author, but I think there's little doubt the philosophy which is expounded in the novel, particularly in the Epilogue, was Wells speaking directly to the reader.

It would have to be Spielbergs as I haven't seen any of the others. Altho I'd love to see the new Jeff Wayne version when it hits the stores.

I have opted for the Jeff Wayne version, but only because of the Live Stage show dvd. The album is great, but it's great to see the invasion too. If it weren't for the dvd, I would have to choose the Spielberg film, as I have watched it many times, and as I have mentioned before it was the film that got me interested in the novel.
