I've added another 3 all new chapters to the book involving more interaction between Horton and the Narrator and some strange goings on down in East London. It seems to have turned out pretty well. I may finish the bugger yet! Great news. Are you planning on having illustrations added? Depictions of the reverse-engineered tech and newly introduced Martian machines would be brilliant. Agreed! I've often thought that would be a great idea!

Illustrations? Well, it's a brilliant idea and one that has been raised before. I think that, if it can be worked out, I would like to use Poyks' Human Fighting Machine image, which he kindly created for the story some time back, as the cover at the very least. There's something really quite haunting about it. Maybe he or someone else might like to do some more illustrations for it as well, I don't know. It might depend on the flexibility of any publishers who might be interested in the book and whether anyone wants to illustrate the thing in the first place. TBH, I don't really know enough about that sort of thing to know how it will go.

Well... It's finished! Finally! I've completed the last story draft and barring final checks for spelling and other such errors, it is in the form in which I shall now be offering this work of over a year (Gawd!) to publishers. Now begins the hard part. Agents, publishers, many rejections (I expect) and (I wouldn't be surprised) copyright issues due to the nature of the thing. And all that crap. I will report as things develop (or don't!). Buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

I finished reading the re-draft this morning and I have to say it's absolutely brilliant. The additions and tweaks you've made have made a huge difference to it. Well done and congratulations on finishing your first novel. We'll have a few beers down the Benton Ale House tomorrow night to celebrate.
The next step is indeed a tough one because for the most part decisions as to whether agents represent you or publishers publish it are out of your control now. A steady flow of submissions and a lot of patience will be the order of the day. I have no doubt that you will get it published though - it is a DAMN good story.
Well done again, mate.

By the way, I wanted to thank everyone who read the first draft as I posted it up and offered some great comments and support. I'm still gettting comments from people I don't know who have stumbled across it which, frankly, amazes me. Extra special thanks go to Richie Burton for his advice, cajoling and prodding whilst I completed the novel. I may not have finished it without all that help, so thanks all! The next steps I must now take with it have me a little worried, I'm sending my baby out into the big bad world now, but I'm game... and I shall see it through!

Well, just so you know, I begin sending out my work to agents tomorrow. If someone is daft enough to take me on, I will let you all know.

I'll allocate a few first editions to be written off (and signed personally, of course). But that assumes it will get out there in the first place. If it happens, I'll let you know. Early days yet.

Firstly, I would like to say congratulations for finishing it mate! Many people don't even get that far with their novels. Secondly, I am looking forward to purchasing it (so you get a percentage) to read the changes you have made to your original draft.
Lets just hope you can get it published. But you should be proud for getting this far!
