Don't give up! Rescue Josh McGuire was turned down by publishers 127 times before it made it, and it won seven awards! I'll be reserving my copy!

It's always worth trying. Unfortunately, publishers seem to love to make it difficult to, well, actually publish anything. However, If it's something you truly want to do, it's worth sticking with and fighting for... and, hopefully, an opportunity will present itself to you soon. You certainly deserve it - we're all behind you, and we'll all keep supporting you and cheering you on (whether you like it or not... ;D )

Yeah I know, I keep getting told off from certain quarters whenever I talk about packing it in. Your support means a lot and I will hang in there.

Well, the book is getting sent off to more publishers but I'm thinking of changing my plans. After trying to post sample chapters on Authonomy.com (a Harper Collins made site that is supposed to offer facilities for such) and having a disappointing email conversation with the moderators, I'm becoming convinced that I should instead focus on getting it out in the U.S first. From experience so far, UK publishers won't even look at it because of possible copyright issues. In the US there is no such worry as the original TWoTW is public domain there and it might get a chance as a story in itself. So, if this last lot fails, I think I shall offer it to the land of the free and see what happens.

Might be an idea.
I can see the legal issues you're having, so I hope you have more luck in the US.

I like the overall design a lot! You've included the thickness of your book into the design detail as well. The effort shows!
The text could loose the gradient backgrounds without a loss IMO. And any actual color should be very subtle. Perhaps recurring in the fonts themselves?
Anyhow it goes, I wanna autographed copy when your done mate! ;D

That's just a mock up of the finished product. The colours are debatable. The cover image, however, is not. Poyks did that for me while I was still writing the original draft, way back when. It's ALWAYS been the cover. However. If the book does well, I'd like to do a special illustrated edition. I have a certain amazing pic of a certain Martian submarine (stiill as my desktop!) to start! I'm sure that many of my talented friends here would love to contribute too. If it happens. That's by the by, for now, though. Ultimately, the book IS happening. Finally. That's a miracle, to me. I'm also, btw, hoping for some good quotes from certain personages for the cover, too. But we'll see on that. It's getting out there. Good enough for me. And I will definitely have a free signed copy to offer here on the site as a prize of some sort. More on that later. The book will likely be internet sales only in the UK for now. There are reasons for this which I won't bore you with. But if you want a copy personally signed, I'm sure we can arrange something. I won't charge anything extra for signing a copy and sending it on, I'm sure we'll easily sort it. More on that later, perhaps. By the way, I think I should kowtow (bigstyle) to my good mate Rod (aka Richardburton). It's him who has given me the benefit of his experience in publishing and has helped me to get my own work out there. It is he who made this book possible. And it was he who had the faith to egg me on when I started the story (as well as some of my good friends who were then members of TWoTWonline and have since followed me here). And Rod did kick me up the jacksy when I was slacking. All hail to you who believed! Sod, it. If you haven't bought a copy of Rod's book 'Sinema'.... why? It's bloody ace! Anyhoo.... more on the emergence of 'Aftermath' soon....

Cheers, big fella. I'm really looking forward to getting a signed copy! It's a great story and a tasteful hommage to HGW so deserves to be out there.

Yay! Glad to hear you've finally found a way to get your book published Nerfy! I'll happily buy a copy when it's available. I'm glad you're using poyks' artwork as the cover... to me, it fits the book really well and will look excellent when you've done with it. And if you ever get around to doing an illustrated edition, I'm sure there's quite a few of us that could contribute to that as well. ^^ All the best.
