This is my first post here but I'd like to show a screenshot I took from Virtual Sailor, a game I play often and is an avid addon modeller for, and I thought I'd share it with you all as it is WotW related. I love the HMS Thunder Child and hold a sort of "fearful fashination" of the tripods, that I'm scared but still fashinated by them. I have read and enjoyed the book a number of times along with some of the e-comics out there aswell as seeing the Spielberg film. The shot features a freelanced warship based on the Barfleur class but very much inspired by HMS Thunder Child. Also I have designed and created my own version of the tripod (of which I hope I haven't ripped off somebody elses design by mistake). The image below portays HMS Gargantua in the role as Thunderchild in a staged scene against tripods with the transport steamer to the right. Additional smoke and effects were added in Paintshop Pro. "HMS Thunder Child struck by the Heat Ray whilst fireing her guns" The scene was inspired from listening to Poyks most exellent Chapter 5 soundtrack that also served as very good background music as I engaged the tripods in-game after taking the staged screenshot. The outcome of the battle was as per the novel, I was dutyfully sunk. For those interested, models can be obtained here. -> www.jonatan.maxxflow.com/ships/boats.php/Jonatan

Thanks, McTodd!
I had thoughts of keeping the image in color but the B/W added such an emotive effect to the scene.

Good move, the black & white is very effective, as is the low vantage point.

Yes, I've learned that good angles are important for a good shot so I try to find suiting ones.

Very nice picture indeed! I also like the Fighting Machines, especially the one in front, and the ghostly beam of the Heat Ray.
