Sheer Genius A Martian Rhapsody ;D D.F. Mrgroaty, you're an absolute genius - D.F. couldn't sum it up any better - you've made my day - would you mind if i was to have it professionally printed on the front of my bass drum, just to signify not only my Queen Tribute band, but also my love for TWOTW - Thanks again friend! ;D

I really dig your completed render. I have one teeny gripe, with the main tripod in the foreground; the way it is positioned. First off, it looks as though you have set the viewpoint of your scene about 5 or 10 feet above 'eye level'. This is still way underneath the Martians, however. The foreground Martian just doesn't seem to 'loom' as it should. There should be more underbelly exposed so that we get more of a sense of hugeness, of height, of awesomeness, of complete and utter despair. I realize that in mid-gait, the Martian might naturally be showing this side-on fiew to the viewer, and I'm not taking issue with that. Just the composition of that one aspect of the piece.

Malf: You're the only person thats noticed that the truth of it is that i spent ages to get the eyes looking good (looking all bug-like) that i felt reluctant to hide them by lifting the body up to where it should be, if you saw the file i worked on you see that the body is twisted at a very awkward angle to ge it where it is so i kinda sacrificed proper positioning for showing what id done. hmm lesson learnt i spose cheers mate ----------------------------------------------------- Now for the rest of you folks as you've all been good guys and gals, i thought id give you a sneaky crappy youtube quality test of the animated heat ray im working on. its far pfrom perfect but if you see the first draft its defo getting better lol. I think at the moment its too thin, to bendy (like water coming out of a hose) and the whote glare at the nozzle needs to be orangey-red like the ray (not sure why it wasnt but it will be) comments and crits welcome as always sneaky peek: www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_6iMZF3oGwfirst draft www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoE-6Yqjmu8enjoy this as i wont be giving any more peeks until its done

It's ace but I think you have a nail/ hammer interface scenario in your comments. Atm, it looks like liquid fire, I guess. Which is fine if that's what it is meant to be, but it's not so much a 'Heat-ray' as a 'Heat-spray'. I'd say it needs to lose the bend and be wider. But I know you can pull it off.

yeah, a little too 'watery' but still cool, nonetheless. i think that some 'water' element should be retained, just not as much. and yeah, it need to be thicker and glowing white hot in the center of the beam and at the nozzel. spreading out in thickness as it reaches the target, giving it a sense of 'range'... at some point the heat ray would become too diffuse to work, as described in the book (at least thats what i assumed).

good atempts mate, i'm with Nerf on the 'watery' look of the first test vid, and the width and colur probably do need a little adjusting. All the same, very good work.
