I'm glad I read all of the criticisms of this film before I watched it, and with respect, I now think a lot of them are at least a teeny bit pedantic. Yes, there are CG repetitions, and aspects of the storyline cannot claim to be original. I watched it and really enjoyed it! I found it had a kind of 'Farscape' feel with some of the surreal wormhole stuff, and the acting (and music) was great.
I sensed a hint of 'low buget' with some of the sound effects and voice overdubs, but it wasn't a massive distraction.
All I know is, I sat down to watch a DVD and really enjoyed it; it's no big revelation in the world of TWOTW, but it's at least respectable in my books.

Regardless of my own opinion on this film, I am glad you enjoyed it Poyks. I can understand what you mean- you are fully aware of all it's faults, but enjoy it for it's entertainment value anyway. Fair enough. Regarding the acting, I found it a little hit and miss. Of course C. Thomas Howell was good as always, but the blonde scientist/computer geek had an annoying accent. Anyway, each to his own mate.

Yes, that was a strange accent... not on the same scale as Timbo's actors though! lol! ;D

I just thought there were certain things that were too convenient.
**SPOILERS AHEAD**
Like out of all the people cocooned on this ship, he just happens to come by one where he spots his watch on the wrist of his son- come on!! Then conveniently one of the ships crash lands into the fake city and, despite smoking like a chimney and dented and battered to a pulp, it still manages to fit all of the main characters in it AND take them back to Earth. Another silly part regarding this clip was when he asked for the co-ordinates of the worm-hole, then when we see it you realise it would be a bit hard to miss, being a big giant white cloud in space! Don't get me wrong. I really really wanted to like this. But it's silly things like this that put me off a film. It's ok if a film is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but this film is supposed to be serious, but this film asks us to accept too many illogical and over-the-top plot developments.

Wow, I was at Walgreens (drug store) at about 5:00 this morning and there was this big red thing standing outside that looked like a Coke machine and a jukebox rolled into one. I was only there to buy some cigarettes, but I was intrigued by this big red THING so I inspected it closer, and realized that it was a DVD vending machine! Wow. There is a touchscreen on the front, and you navigate through a couple of hundred of DVD titles, picking the ones you want to rent. Well, whaddya know... I saw this movie, War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave, and immediately thought, holy shit! Another WOTW movie? I looked more closely and saw that C. Thomas Howell is in it, and I was instantly reminded of that 'other' WOTW movie that came out at the same time as Pendragons and Spielbergs. So, of course I rented it (after you pick your movies, you swipe your credit card and that's that) and here I sit, watching it and imagining how awesome Timbos movie could have been if he'd merely used the low but adequate production values that obviously went into this movie.

This was on the Horror channel in the UK one weekend, must have been 3 weeks back now. Came across it flicking the channels before "beddy bye byes".
Regretably dozed off after a while , the result of a heavy working week rather than anything to do with the film.
What I saw of it was quite creepy and atmospheric.
