Can someone make an ACCURATE leg joint and then post their image hear on this forum? Because I have no clue as to what it looks like. Magnetized discs in an elastic sheath, what does that mean!?

I see it as a kind of artificial muscle. So perhaps look at animal/human leg joints and try to imagine that on the tripod.

Yes, in the original novel. It's in book two, the chapter "What we saw from the ruined house" I think. It's where the narrator is trapped with the Curate in the pit made by the landing of the fifth cylinder. He's observing the Martians and this is where he gets really scientific and describes how things work for the Martians based on his observations.

From War of the WorldsAs indicated by my beautiful assistant Sharon, the sham or pseudo muscles of the Tripod and Handling Machine legs worked as an electric currant is run through the soft, leathery outer casing of the polarised discs. It work in the same way as sticking a battery on the muscle of a frogs leg. So if you just make your Tripod legs look like a terrestrial mammal, reptile, amphibian or avian, you can't go far wrong. I went for the bird style of leg for my old FM because I imagined it moving a bit like an Ostrich.

Huh. I guess I was wrong about the whole thing. I thought the discs were in the leg's knees...wait, I was wrong!? Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I think you should use your imagination, Wells' descriptions were so vague and dare I say it, So ridiculous in some places, you can get away with almost anything, but try to avoid using wheels and fixed pivots and semi fixed pivots.
Oh! and what ever you do, do not cheat and just draw a flying saucer, that is not funny and it is not cleaver it's just WRONG!

Well that's easy, I've always found the flying-saucer "tripods" dull, monotonous, and all too generic.

Um, well...it's...not quite..ready. But if you want to see the 2.5-legged footless amputee tripod that I have now I can show it within a couple days if I can remember.
