Tron is an old 1982 movie about a young guy called Flynn who is a computer genius who is sucked into a digital world and forced to fight for his life in an hidden online world run with an iron fist by the MCP the Master Control Program.
The sequal 20 years later, Flynn is a grown man now and the chairman/ owner of ENCOM. The company that built the MCP in the first place. But he dissappears leaving behind a young son. The son grows up and basically ends up in the same online world as his father was. The son realises his father has been abducted again into this digital world and the yound guy has to go rescue him.

I doubt Disney's special effects will compensate the lack of charme this the original had.

This is definitely one worth going to see. Good story, good special effects, and lot and lots of action. And for those who loved the the original 1982 TRON, they even have one of the old light cycles (“rumor has it it's still the fastest thing on the grid. ...) ;D There's a nice little Star Wars pastiche thrown in also. When Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) asks his son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) to take the gun turret, Sam manages to shot one of the pursuing aircraft down and gets rather excited. I was waiting for Jeff Bridges to shout "Great, kid. Don't get cocky!" The film has a dark menacing feel to it, sometimes a bit like Bladerunner. If I do have a complaint it would be with the 3D. The film is made up of sharp contrasts, bright lights against dark backgrounds with very little shades grey between, this makes the film very dark. Viewed without the 3D glasses it looked alright, except a bit fuzzy of course, but when you put the glasses on the tinted lenses made the film even darker, sometimes to the point were you had to take them off just to see what was happening. I don't know if this was the fault of the film itself or the fault of the cinema. I will certainly be getting TRON Legacy when it comes out on DVD.
