Recently a relative of mine from England brought me back a very old book by H. G. Wells from a rare books shop, so old that Wells himself was still alive when the book was printed. It's a collection of two books - In the Days of the Comet and "Mr. Brittling Sees It Through", which I was unfamiliar with. Apparently Wells wrote books other than science fiction, which surprised me a little. Does anyone else have any rare Wells books? I'd be interested to see what you have.

Wow! That's a great find! I'm not lucky enough to have any rare Wells editions.

No, no rare ones. I know he wrote none sci/fi books and I even have a copy of 'Kipps' lying around here somewhere. but it only the sci/fi I was interested in.

I was only aware that Wells wrote sci-fi, so I'll have to give "Brittling" a look and let you guys know what I think. I also saw a very early edition of "The Island of Dr. Moreau" in my local college's library, which was also interesting. It was in good condition for being so old.

I have a number of books by Wells, fiction and non-fiction, and many of these were printed when Wells was still alive, and I do have a few first editions which I have been lucky to get my hands on. I have to say that Wells is one of my favourite authors. From the information that I have Wells wrote or had a hand in over 140 books that were published during his lifetime and after.
