I bought this film the other day and watched it last night. I had seen the trailer a while back and some clips, but forgot about it until recently. It is a Korean film and is mainly subtitled - there is English in it in places. I have to say that I really enjoyed it, especially some of the comedy within it. It has some real nasty moments and a very good ending. My only criticism is that the monster was shown a bit too early for me, even though this does not damage the horror in the film too much. Overall, a very good Monster movie - The Koreans are getting good at movie making. www.imdb.com/title/tt0468492/(I would also recommend Brotherhood, a Korean War film about the Korean Civil War - www.imdb.com/title/tt0386064/).

I'll have a look at The Host - sounds good. I've seen Brotherhood and I agree - it is a bloody good war film - very gritty and bloody with a very good storyline and excellent acting.

Excellent movie beats any crap Hollywood has put out the last few years.
Very moving too.

I saw this film as a bootleg at the home of a client last year. I just picked up the special edition dvd a month ago. I am a huge fan of Asian horror. There is a certain sensibility about horror films from that part of the world that beats the pants of anything made here in the west.
If anyone hasn't seen the host yet, BUY IT!!! you won't regret it....

I've long been a fan of Asian cinema, too, and I will agree that Korea really is turning out some good movies. I've seen a few of late that I have been really impressed with. 'The Host' looks great (I've only just checked out the trailer but I will seek it out now!) The one I am REALLY waiting for, though, is 'D-War'....

haven't seen that one yet, but I will watch for it. I think you guys get this stuff a little sooner than we do.
The best part about the host is that they blew the budget on the final monster effect, so it became a character driven film with a low budget. The cast in this thing is just great! With no money left they had to carry the film on their ability and they definately rose to the challenge. The little girl, specifically, is just amazing.
