This is a true story that happened in "my neck of the woods". I was 10 when the plane crash that killed the Marshall University football team happened. You can see the hill where this crash occurred from my childhood home. My uncle was a local journalist and his youngest daughter was a journalism student at Marshall at the time this happened. They and another uncle, who was a rescue worker at the time, all saw the crash site first hand. I attended Marshall 10 years later.
The movie was shot on location in Huntington, WV, where I work. And, there is even a shot of the building where I currently work. Aside from that, this is a good adaptation of a true story and I think it's worth a view for anyone who loves a good human interest story.
