I Watched Capote last night with the missus. Didn't quite know what to expect. It's a strange sort of tale - all the more so because it's a true story based on Truman Capote's research into his most acclaimed work (In Cold Blood). Phillip Seymour Hoffman is outstanding as Capote himself - his accent and mannerisms alone are amazing, but he really does act his socks off all the way through. Capote was certainly a unique individual and Hoffman portrays him warts and all. Catherine Keener who plays his assistant/friend/bodyguard Nelle Harper Lee (who also wrote To Kill a Mocking Bird - so he was in very good company) puts in a solid performance as his confidant and a voice of quiet honesty to his sometimes flamboyant actions. It's not a film I'd watch a second time as it kind of throws EVERYTHING at you the first time, but it is well worth a watch.
