The only real problem I have with this film is the missing day. One moment it’s the middle of the night, they just escaped the river, cloths are falling from the sky and the next minute it’s just after twilight the next evening, they’re walking past some farmhouses and the attack over the hill is about to start.
What happened to the missing day?! There’s no way that they walked an entire day without running into trouble! Does anybody know if this is where the deleted scene with them hiding behind the SUV went? Is there something else that wasn’t filmed? Because it really messes with the consistency and flow of the film.

Well, I am assuming this is where the extra walking scenes would have been (mentioned in the 'what could have been' thread), where the family would have had their first encounter with the red weed, and Ray would have took the artefact out of his pocket (but I am not sure what he does with it afterwards). Also I am sure the missing Camelot scene would have been here too (perhaps directly after the falling clothes scene as the Camelot scene is still set at night time). Hope that helps.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Too bad Spielberg has a bad habit of not doing extended versions of his films. I might have to add them back in on my own.

I would do myself if I had access to those scenes. Unfortunately he doesn't like putting deleted scenes on his dvd's either. The effects were at least partly finished for the Camelot scene, as you would see with the piccy on the other thread. Oh well, one can always hope.

I only have the one disc DVD; I thought that the deleted scenes might be on the two disc version. It took forever but we finally got deleted scenes for “The Lost World” out of him, maybe if enough people say something, he will do the same for “The War of The Worlds”?

Well, you can count on me on that. Anyone knows if the deleted scenes are available through any alternative source?

I haven't heard a thing regarding the deleted scenes. They are not available anywhere as far as I know. The only place I have seen any extra clips is the Japanese trailer- and it literally is a couple of little clips.

What happened to the missing day? Um, well - oh sorry, I thought you were talking about the Pendragon film there. On a more serious note, I've not actually noticed that but I've only seen the film twice.

Exactly. We complain about one film having too much walking (or "walking, sitting, and standing" as my father said, lol ), then complain about another not having enough!! Fickle bunch aren't we KR

But we don't want more walking, we want crouching and hiding among Tripods, like in the camelot scene.

Missing day, Cruise was off praying to Lord Xenu, Spielberg was doing a read thru of Munich script and the crew went down the pub on the lash.
