Give us Camelot or give us death! You should change that to: "Give us the Camelot scene or give us the Camelot scene!" Then he has no choice... ;D

CAMELOT[Tune: "Camelot" from "Camelot"] A film appeared a recent moon ago here, The twenty-third of June, its debut spot We waited thru the hours of its premiere For Camelot. With Steven Spielberg as its director This scene would be the movie's best subplot. We waited long in vain, our hopes were dashed for Our Camelot. Camelot! Camelot! I know it makes us sound like geeks, But this Camelot, Camelot! We'd chatted up for weeks. Each evening, from December to December, Before you drift to sleep upon your cot, Think back on all the tales that you remember Of Camelot. Ask ev'ry person if he's heard the story, And tell it strong and clear if he has not, That once there was a fleeting wisp of glory Called Camelot. Camelot! Camelot! Now say it out with pride and joy! Camelot! Camelot! Where once the tripods peered thru houses' windows. Poor souls by tentacles were grabbed and thrown. Don't let it be forgot That once a scene was shot A foggy, shining moment that was known As Camelot. _______________________________________ Disclaimer: The above filksong represents the views of this thread, not necessarily mine.

What can be said now? I'm sure even SS would shed a tear after reading that piece of art.

Thank you! But stanzas 4, 5 & 6 are -shamelessly swiped- repeated unchanged from the original song, so I could hardly publish it. Copyright, doncha know.

Hold on, didn't I and others work out that it was 14 days, all told, that the martian invasion lasted? This was by calculating the time spent driving, then walking, from Ray's house to Athens, then Boston.
So it's not one day you're looking for, it's fourteen.

I’m only talking about the one that messes with the flow of the film. Beside, most viruses and illness’ have a gestation period if three days, so at most I figure about four or five days.

I don't think the 14 days thing is at all definite, either. After all, at one point Ray and his family had to get out of the way of a military convoy. It's possible another one came along and they hitched a ride atop an armored car or somesuch. That could have gotten them to Boston much quicker. As far as incubation periods of diseases, that's highly variable. A glance at the Wikipedia article on "incubation period" shows several with periods up to 14 days or more. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incubation_period

To me, all the events of the film could easily fit in a four or five days schedule. It makes sense, and that would justify why there's not that much destruction on Boston when they arrive, given the aliens' inmense firepower.
