You know I am amazed no one else has brought this up already. The actor that brought us movies like, Ben-Hur, Planet of the Apes, Soylent Green, etc, died on the 5th April 2008, at the ripe old age of 84.

Richard Widmark died recently too. Some real Hollywood greats lost.

Yes I'd been meaning to put up a topic about both of those old school Hollywood greats. What with Roy Scheider too they're dropping like flies.
Heston had controvertial views on gun control, but he was a fine actor and director and was a staunch civil rights supporter and follower of Martin Luther King. Lots of memorable roles, but Planet of the Apes probably stands out most for me.
Widmark was an excellent supporting actor (mainly) but with fantastic screen presence. My best remembered role for him will always be Jim Bowie in the original and best Alamo.
