Had to bop back a brief moment to report this horror... A bone chilling moment whilst watching Newsnight. No, Jeremy Vine hadn't decided to attempt to ill-advisedly rap his way through a news item, instead the Pendragon spectacle reared its unlikely robot-chicken* shaped head! Yup, in this article on MOD UFO files, it kicks off with a reading from the famous opening passage to the book by Richard Burton, and a bit of the Jeff Wayne, and then it goes on to show the trailer to the woeful Hines movie! And the reporter voice over says... "In this top quality reading of the novel..." Newsnight! How could you get it so wrong? Perhaps he sent out a temp with the instruction to pick up Paramount's effort, and failed to give him enough spare change, and so slowly, but surely, the temp drew himself towards the bargain bin... See the video on the beeb website here... news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/7399717.stm

Heh, thought that would strike a raw nerve. I think we fear a martian invasion just a little less than a Timothy Hines worldwide cienma release.

Those Hines "shells" are everywhere! Seriously, it doesn't surprise me. Every single news item, in the papers and on TV, of which I have had personal knowledge, has either had facts wrong, or the story skewed to make it seem more controversial, or both. News media working on a daily cycle don't care if the "story" is right. They just care if it's done by three o'clock, or whenever their deadline is. Is it different there "across the pond" in the UK? I'd be surprised if it was.

That quote has been bouncing around my head and I just realized it's from "The Wild Geese". Just a read through the quotes page on IMDB brings a smile to my face.

Just one of many brilliant Burton lines. Yes, almost as good as, "bend over Liz, you filthy bitch".

Correct. And yours is from Quatermass and the Pit! *I didn't need to look that up, btw* Using "Ol' Hobb" as my avatar probably didn't hurt recognotion-wise. Anyone who's ever seen that film knows that face very well.
