Ha! Thought that'd get your interest, you rotters!
Here is documented details of the weekend in which I, HRH Sir Evil of Nerf, made a state visit to deepest Derbyshire to visit m'colleague and chum Mr Poyks and the lovely Mrs P.
I got there Friday (at around 5 or so) and pretty soon had a beer thrust in my hand.
This pretty much set the mark on things.
Did I refuse? Far be it from me to be so rude.
Friday night, then, was pretty much a blur.
I remember two things, amongst the quaffing.
1) Watching a pretty decent live David Gilmour DVD.
2) M'colleague and I thinking it would be a great idea to go up to his 'studio' and record our incohenrent ramblings for posteriority.
I can't remember much about the latter event except for laughing like a schoolgirl alot and, fatally, picking up a guitar (I can't play a note) and twanging away and singing (tunelessly) pretty much any words that came into my Carling fueled head. Some might even have rhymed... who knows? As I intimated, I don't remember much about the latter event but I have little doubt that the results would make Derek and Clive blush and will make little, if any, sense.
Maybe Mr P should make this available for listening at some point. If nothing else, it will highlight the dangers of mixing alchohol and slightly deranged people like me and his good self.
Saturday was a nice chilled day followed by a trek to Lincoln to listen to Mr P's band 'The Zimmer Band' play at a hostelry in said City.
I was suitably impressed. That boy can twang his Rickenbacker, I must say.
The band were ace! Tighter than a gnat's chuff and shockingly good at what they do. Mixing covers of Floyd classics with tracks by The Killers, U2, Pulp and many others, there was much jigging in the audience and the place was heaving with people rocking out.
They even did 'Paranoid Android'.... a brave move but very well carried out. I was asked to video a couple of tracks and this was one. Perhaps it will be posted on Youtube if it comes out alright.
If The Zimmer Band play near where you happen to be, go seem them! You'll have a great night and they are all top blokes.
Check them out on Youtube, too!
After the gig, Mr P and I chilled out with a coupla tinnies and a dose of 'The Young Ones' on DVD.
A late rising this morn meant more chilling-ness before I had to make the long trek home again.
I'd like to thank Mr and Mrs P for showing me a top time and for their kind hostipality. I had much fun!
Nerf waits patiently for the Pylon Insulator Fetishist crowd to turn up to the great event...
... and there he is!
Now then. About this Board Meeting....
