en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_the_Tigers_Broke_FreeI never made the connection until now, my dad fought in this battle. He was part of the 56th London Infantry Division, the 'Black Cats' sweeping up from the south of Italy to reach the Anzio beachead. My Dads platoon encountered the same German Tiger brigade that smashed the beachead where Roger Waters father was. My Dad was one of only a couple of guys that got away, the rest of his platoon were killed or wounded. However my Dad was captured trying to carry the wounded away with some medical orderlies. He was a POW for 16 months until his escape. My dad wouldn't talk much about that battle, i got the impression the fighting went literally hand to hand, bayonets and bare hands. It affected him that battle in particular. His best friend was also his Sargent, was killed at that battle, a hand grenade blew his head off. Lest we forget.

One of my favourite songs of all time. Roger of course wrote it about his own Father.
Very moving.

There is a rare recording of this song being performed by Roger Waters with the Royal orchestra (whatever the proper name is..I apologize if that is wrong). I've been looking for it for years. I used to have it, but it vanished somewhere down the line.
Anyone know how I can find it again?
