Hello people. You do not know me... but I know you. Well, I know the usernames you use for the second lives you lead in the world of internet. Anyway, I wanted to tell people about a new story I've been writing and posting here: www.coutelier.org.uk/My site is quite new and hasn't much stuff on it... I'm still working on more content, I've been so busy busy doing so that I haven't updated my blog in a while either, but that will change. Anyway the actual novel I'm writing is here: www.coutelier.org.uk/seelf.htmlAs you can see only the first chapter up so far and it could probably do with some more proofreading (I'm terrible at spotting my own mistakes). It is rather inspired by HG Wells. In fact there are several references to HG in the first chapter, and not subtle ones either (well, some are more subtle than others). If I had the money I'd give away a prize to the person who could spot them all I'm told my setting is 'Steampunk'... but I must admit I don't really know anything about that (I played a video game called Arcanum a while ago).

Welcome! That's a nice site you've got there, and a pretty good story, so far. Did you do all the illustrations yourself?

Thank you everyone for your kind words The illustrations were all created in Poser 7 (with some editing in Photoshop). I've only just started learning other, more professional, 3D programs. Hopefully I'll eventually be able to show the Engines and Cities the way I really imagine them to be

Welcome aboard. I haven't had a chance to read the full chapter yet, but what I've read so far is interesting and well written. Illustrations are great too.

The same here, I haven't read much yet but what I have, looks good, a bit Blade Runner'ish. Nice artwork as well. This is a thread I'll be keeping an eye on, well done.

I must apologise for having not updated at all for a few months... it'll be coming, soonish ;D I've been working hard on the universe, revising the history, characters and places and all the different creatures; most of which are sci-fi adaptations of fantasy and mythological beings (like the ELF's, which couldn't be more obvious really). And working on renderings of characters as well; actually selecting just the right clothes for a character to wear is far trickier than I thought. They've got to suit the 'period' (in this case a psudo Vicorian to Edwardian dress), and they've got to suit the characters personality as well as practical considerations; there'll be lot's of action scenes and running and the female characters will be bery involved in all so can't always be in very long skirts or they'll be tripping up everywhere... Anyway, like I said, soonish it'll really start

Just to let you know I'm still working on this ;D To be more specific, I've been working on a building a large 'buffer'... that is to say I want to have about a years worth of updates sitting on my computer so long periods won't go by again without anything new on the site.
I've finished writing 'Star Engine' pretty much, although I would call it a rough draft. I'll add each chapter as I check through it and making any final changes I feel I have to. One thing I'm going to change are some of the names; 'Lord Rockston' and 'Jamie Dodger' and some other things are just silly placeholders because it's taken me a while to think of what I actually wanted to call them.
Anyway, barring me falling down a well or anything (it's happened before, actually), I'll start adding new stuff again this week.

That's a good idea and I wish I'd thought of it when I was writing my Invasion of Earth graphic novel. Bob, who I though was going to be the main character turned out not to be and that lead to a lot of rewriting of the script. Keep us informed of your progress.

So some stuff did come up. Mainly two different viruses infecting me and my computer, but its all taken care of now so I can start stuff slowly trickling from my hard drive onto the world wide web. I'm still going over some stuff, but this week I've started up another section of the site for all kinds stuff that happens to take my fancy: www.coutelier.org.uk/qi.htmlObviously I called it 'QI', after the TV show. And of course there will be a page devoted to HG Wells and the War of the Worlds (among other things).

Incidentally I haven't died or vanished completely! I'm still working on this.
There were a couple of setbacks, such as my hard disk packing it in, but I've been able to recover most of it. Expect a completely different Chapter One to come along soon and then more regular updates. Also rewriting other pages... a lot of it was just rushed, hastily written and, looking at it now, didn't come out that well.
Now, whats a good word for nincompoop...

Okay, so there's a whole new Chapter One: www.coutelier.org.uk/seelf/01chapterone.htmlI don't know if there's anyone at all who remembers what it was like before, but its completely changed. It starts in a different location with different characters. Those characters that were there before will be introduced in Chapter Three. It starts off a bit like the Tinker Bell movie (which I had to watch with my niece recently), but by the end hopefully you'll be starting to see that this ain't no fairy tale... well it sort of is, but, not really for little kids. No pictures this time, but I'm working on it. If you want to know what the space ship looked like, then it was a Class A3... which steam engine enthusiasts might know was the class of The Flying Scotsman. Just manage that but without the chimney or wheels and a funnel out the back instead of a coal truck. And less green. (I'm not a steam enthusiast; I just look these things up on wikipedia). Over the next week I'll add more bits to the site and be rewriting some of the things that are already there. I need to revise the 'enginepedia', changing Dione because she has a different name and history again. And explaining the science and tech situation better; it sounds like they push buttons and things work sometimes, and they never learn any more about them. But its a bit more complicated than that. Anyway, I've been awake since yesterday morning so now I'm going to bed.
