Recently my country's Navy, which I someday hope to join, has decided to inactivate and decommission the world's first and only nuclear powered research submarine, the NR-1, after nearly 40 years of service. Here's the link for the story if anyone's interested.

I wasn't aware there was a nuke powered research sub.
