Had came across this at the weekend. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNJ8rIEPLOoSadly there are no flying examples of this wonderful aircraft left in the UK , or anywhere else , since 1996. The good news is that there are 2 restoration projects in progress to return a Mosquito to flying condition however these projects are 10 years away and the examples are in Canada and New Zealand. Sadly more of our aviation heritage is being exported overseas , predominantly the US , also the bureaucrats in Europe are gradually increasing the costs of operating these warbirds insisting on passenger safety and navigation instruments before they are allowed to operate. The operators of the B17 Flying Fortress Memphis Belle at Duxford are expected to pay the same insurance rate as a modern airliner due to EEC regulations brought in 2 years ago. If this continues the only way we are going to see these aircraft in their true enviroment is through computer animation, awesome though it is is no substitute for the real thing.

I can see from the Mosquitoes' glazed noses (the glass covering on the nose) that in this animation they are either Bomber or Reconnaissance variants. The Mosquito also had roles as Night Fighters, Fighter-Bombers, and some carried other special weapons as well. Its normal bomb load as a Bomber was equal to that of an American B-17, which was twice its size. Truly an amazing aircraft.
