Alright, so you guys know who i am for the most part along with what i was working on in 2005 before my lead character artist vanished. And so here i am 4 years later to try again. Im going to keep this short and sweet, im turning War of the Worlds into a film, a period film, an animated period film. I do not have millions of dollars, what i do have is experience and knowledge of what im capable of and what my limitations are and how to get the greatest possible quality within those limitations, unlike some other directors i could name. Im not here to make false hopes and build people up only to tear them down later. Im here to make the closest adaption i can to H G' Novel without having to release a second version a year later with 45 minutes of someone walking cut from the film. So im going to hit you with some facts about this film which is, as the title states, now officially in pre production.
01: The films name is "Knights of Cydonia". The martians obviously being knights, and Cydonia being the region of mars where the famous face is located. Also a great song by Muse but thats beside the point. This is also to help avoid any legal tangles and so it doesnt get lost in the over-saturated WotW market.
02: The film doesn't take place on earth, nor is mars called mars. The film will take place in my fictional world of Nymbyn, its a Steam Punk setting thats not all that different from 1900's London or the world in the book, just more steamy? Mars is, as the title indicates, called Cydonia.
03: Thats where there differences end. =P
04: The film will contain an original soundtrack that is unlike anything previously heard in any of the WotW iterations.
05: The animated film will have a cartoony art style, but that doesn't mean it will be a comedy or in any way funny.
06: Unlike the Martian Saga this will be full color the whole way threw.
07: The Tripods are heavily influenced by the designs of Alvim Corréa so as to keep within the Steam Punk feel and also because im sick of seeing tripods that look like insects.
08: The first person to receive a copy of the film will be Timothy Hines, it will be accompanied by a letter detailing that when you make a film you shouldn't try to exceed your abilities and budget, and that you should play off your strengths.
09: There is no planned release date as of yet, but this project will no doubt, due to the small nature of the team, take a number of years to complete. For now this will be the hub for animation until my website is completed.
