On now - and later available here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00j6r1b/b00j6qtg/Darwins_Dangerous_Idea_Born_Equal/Interesting reflection on Eugenics and Darwinism, particularly for those (like me) who never got to grips with it despite have a "B" in Higher Biology, lol. There's a particularly interesting story about the last Tasmanian, and an unseemly scientific battle over his body. Of course, this "inferior race" of Tasmanian Aborigines is mentioned in the first chapter of WOTW. Wells' description (that they were wiped out despite their "human likeness") has always troubled me. Perhaps it's more evidence that the narrator is not him; rather someone who adheres to some of the more unpleasant post-Darwin views of the late 19th century. But then, I'm sure there's others on here who know about his views than I do.
