You should watch it and dont believe the 'hype'. I'd rather not sully my imagination with that sort of poor quality crap, it would be like offering a wine connoisseur a bottle of methylated spirits. I would like to be able to read the book in the future without picturing Tim's abortion.

You should watch it and dont believe the 'hype'.Its such a shame this situation. On the one hand we have got a tw*t with 200 mill who f"*ks it up and then we have tim hines who has done his best with not alot of money...............that indicates to me that spielberg doesn't give a tinkers cuss about Hg wells and hines really does. Its easy maths to me. I couldn't agree with you more mate........what amazing insight you truly have about HG Wells

Dont be like that ...........Its the closest we have.Better it be there than not.Least its not a very exspensive bastardisation. It is a low budget true to the book film. You dont have to tell me how poor it is but its the book afterall. At least someone has tried.I personally feel Spielbergs film is the bigger sin.It has nothing at all apart from special effects.Talk about lets take a story and then completely change it beyond all recognition. And not just any old story.Probedly the greatest piece of 'Sci-fi' of all time if not thee...........

By the way,ive just watched on you tube by i think 'toy master studios' (correct me if im wrong),WOTW in a kind of model animated form and im not putting the cat among the pigeons here but it actually captured the 'Creepiness' of the book.It was very well done.It seems to me that film makers approach this story entirely the wrong way.First and foremost they 'seem' to me to think no further than special effects is the only thing to it.........My opinion is this is wrong wrong wrong.Of coarse its got to have great effects, but in equal measure its got to be creepy and horrific.Jeff Wayne has captured the creepiness without a doubt.'I will be bloody dead by the time someone gets this sorted................AAARRRGGGHHH (Dont answer that)

Toy Master, if I remember rightly that's the animation with the Orson Welles' radio broadcast isn't it? and I agree with you WotWs is a horror story as much as it is a Sci/fi story, Spielberg did a very good job of getting the horror aspect across, I believe. I have not seen Hines film so I can not really comment on whether he does the horror well or not but I have seen clips from it (some of which Pendragon posted themselves) and most are laughable rather than horrific.

I know this is a total 'up my own arse comment' but give us lot 200 mill and get a brill director and we control it and then finnally we get a definative and we could 'put it to bed.I know i go on but im afraid im just a 'one trick pony' as regards this story.

We might like it but would the rest of the world like it? and would we see a return on our $200 Million investment?

Alas..............The greatest piece of sci-fi comes down to 'getting the money back'.Im selfish about WOTW,sod the rest of the world. As to why there is no difinative on celluloid must be the Sci-Fi's film worlds biggest sin.If this book was a woman.....................Pal and spielberg would both be up on rape charges.

But it is people like Pal, Spielberg, Jeff Wayne and even Hines to a lesser degree that help keep this book in the public eye, the books are always relaunched when the movie comes out, it was because of JW musical version that I became a fan, it was several years later that I got around to reading the book and I dare say it's the same with people who have seen Spielberg's film version.... though probably not those who saw the Hines version. So don't be too hard on the film makers, they have to make a profit otherwise we end up with poor quality movies like...... I believe if someone like the BBC were able to have a crack at it, make it into a serial like the original novel was serialized in the Pearson magazine back in 1897 I think it would work, if they could be trusted to stick to the story.

Yes Lonesome.......Im terribly Bullish and obsessive over the story and probedly never be happy.I think im the 'Alan Hanson' of WOTW,lolol.I read the book first when i was about 9 or 10 and then fell in love with Jeff Waynes musical version.Im happy in that respect because ive got the book and musical and now Mr Wayne has given us all some visual treats to see along with his shows.I so much want Jeff to release his film because i really do believe that this is the one that will 'light my fire' and finally shut me up so to speak.I remember going on and on in 2004/5 on eve of the war saying the same things over and over and i know people were sick of hearing it but just sooooooooo passionate about the story.I am a bit 'blinkered' about sci-fi and find it very hard to except anything outside of 'no-one would have believed' to 'And my wife counted me among the dead' if you know what i mean.I love other Sci-fi stuff but nothing like this.Star wars 1,2,3 and so on.............great but expanding on Well's story i find hard to deal with.
