I've only managed to catch snippets off youtube off it, but it looks to be a pretty good show.
Anyone actually manage to see it in full?

Yes I'm a regular watcher, this is the third series and they are starting to kill off some of the main characters from series one and two. I take it you are not located in Britain? In the first series; what happened was rifts in time started to appear into our time, they are known as 'anomalies' and through these anomalies a whole load of prehistoric beasties come, for some reason these anomalies usually happened in isolated areas and only a few people saw them or got eaten by the day tripping beasties, so it was easy for the Government to cover it up. In the second series; we started getting beasties from the future as well as the past and one of the Government men has his own agenda and starts collecting these future creature (a huge flightless bat) and trained them as a Superior type of soldier. In series three; The Government's team of experts are learning how to locate and even close the anomalies.
It's a pretty good show aimed at the 'Doctor Who' type of audience and the special effects are amazing what you would usually expect from a movie. The acting is not great, about as good as you would get from characters from an episode of Doctor Who.

Nah LC, I'm in the land of Aus. I've been looking up the show on wikipedia and discovered that it even has it's own wiki (abit, most of the stuff on there looks like it's been written by a 10 year old!). I agree the effects are quite awesome, I don't really mind the acting at all, I think the people they got for it one way or another suite from what I've seen.

In fact I think it's a lot better made than Who and Russell T Davies and his rubbish writing are thankfully absent.

Look at some of the downright terrible episodes of Who we've had over the past few years. It's not perfect but I've never found myself cringing with embarassment like I've done with certain Who episodes.

Dont compare the show with Dr Who, for starters they are nothing alike.
Secondly, Primeval isnt up its own backside like Who is. I like the characters unlike Dr Who which seem to find the most annoying politically correct saddos around to star in them.
Primeval knows exactly what it is. A bit of fun. Nothing more.

I agree if you're talking about new Who but I actually think Primeval is more like original Dr Who than new Who is. If you watch some of the older Earth based episodes - Primeval is very similar in spirit to stories like the Silurians, Sea Devils Ambassadors of Death etc - whereas new Who is as you said more concerned with being politically correct and the show's become very dumbed down and chavvy.

I agree, new Who is very dumbed down. And yes new who is what i was referring to. Its funny when New Who came on the scene i was dragged in by the hype like everyone else but i soon realised how pants it was.

What gets me is there's still people around who think that Russell T.Davies is a genius - whereas in reality he's perhaps the main reason why a lot of new Who has been pants. That last Dalek 2 parter started off ok but the second part was atrocious.

Although I noted this a bit back, I can't believe that they went and cancelled this show. Though it may not have rated highly compared with other TV shows and productions, I would take this over any of the "reality tv show" crap that most channels seem to enjoy pushing around these days. RIP Primeval.

Dead is it? Another nail in the coffin of original drama. So maybe, from now on, it's a continual diet of reality TV shit or death..... Or we can perhaps turn to the many wonderful books, film DVDs and music CDs out there that will keep us going. If TV wants to die, fine. So long as it doesn't want to drag us in with it. IMO.

At the moment the only TV programs I watch are Eggheads (that's a quiz show if you don't know) when I get in from work and this week I've watched Torchwood, the rest is crap. The sooner they get rid of programs like BIG BROTHER and celebrity cook off, or whatever it's called the better. And there's all these flaming antique programs... And I'm a Celebrity get me out of here. Well I'm a licence paying citizen and I want decent TV programs back.
