I just read this on the BBC news website too - you beat me to posting it.
Get well soon, Russ.

I'll second that. I've just read about that on Ceefax & it's only been a year since the surgeons removed a benign one.

Seeing as, over the last day or so, a lot of the Russell Watson fansites have asked me (via email and PMs) for this, I thought I'd reproduce here, also, what Jeff Wayne asked me to post with reference to Russell...
''During our UK tour in April 06 when Russell Watson played Parson Nathaniel, I remember getting to know him personally, as well as admiring his immense talent.
During the rehearsal period I and others involved in the production would notice that Russell would frequently wear dark sunglasses - indoors. A bit of a Diva we thought! But he really is anything but that. In fact he's a most down-to earth chap with a wicked sense of humor and mischievous smile!
Then one day he explained the sunglasses.
He had a long history of migraine headaches, which at their worst could effect his vision, all-in-all making it tough for him to function normally, much less work. The sunglasses were simply related to giving him some relief. And somehow he almost always got through what was needed of him for TWOTW as well as other professional commitments he had during that period, although probably more out of his will-power and strength than anything else.
By the end of last year, the public learned that he required the removal of two tumors from his brain, each being described as the size of a golf ball. Pretty scary stuff. He seemed to come through it all, and early in the year we exchanged emails where he expressed the great value of his friends that took care of him, and most of all, his great love and concern for his two children. Coming through his operation, he wrote, gave him the chance to consider his priorities in life.
His career also resumed, but now, less than a year later, while completing a new album, the headaches and vision problems returned. He is now back in hospital, recovering from his second operation for what was reported as another but more aggressive brain tumor. In fact it was reported as being so bad it could have effected his sight, or even worse his life.
As I write this, the reports are that he is recovering well and now in a stable condition, and even talking for brief periods. It apparently will be a long recovery, and Russell has accepted that fact. If the end result will be that he returns fit and healthy to his children, other family and his friends, as well as to his illustrious career, whatever the time it takes will have been well worth the road ahead of him.
His performance as Parson Nathaniel was passionate and powerful. To know now how close he was to his first operation is even more remarkable that he gave so much to the role.
I send the warmest of wishes to Russell for a full recovery and I know that all from TWOTW team feel the same. I also look forward to being able to exchange a few more emails with him very soon.
JEFF WAYNE''

Some very kind words there from Jeff. Fingers crossed that he continues to recover well and returns to full fitness.
