This must have happened yesterday when I was at work, only found it this morning. This is what you get when a collared Dove flying at speed hits one of your windows, There was no body laid on the ground below the window so either is survived and flew away or there's a very contented cat somewhere in the vicinity. ;D For all these parts of the body to show up so clearly the bird must have flattened against the window. It also shows how dusty these birds are. In the close up you can clearly see the eye, the feet, the little scuff mark on the surface of the glass from its beak and two tiny white feathers. If you look on the left hand side of the picture you can even see the arc left in the dust on the glass from the up-swing of the wing

We had a few birds do that. It makes you jump if you're in the room at the time!

lol, birds are seriously the most stupid animals on the planet Well this bird (if it survived) will be seriously stupid, as it must be wearing its brains in its arse after an impact like that. ;D

Brilliant photo, LC! I've seen one or two birds hit windows like that but never been left with such a lasting imprint!

The couple next-door have a birdbath in their garden, I reckon the dove was wet from that as the imprint is more like a splat than anything else.
