...my name is Carrie, and I'm an alco... I mean, and I like the TV show. ;D
Yes, it had no budget and some dicey acting here and there. But the premise was nifty, the whole execution of the aliens-who-are-like-us-but-have-increasingly-nasty-sores was well-done, the presentation of aliens-as-gurreillas - it was all great fun and enjoyable to watch. Most importantly for a show, it had unused potential that made it, to use Larry Niven's term, a Playground of the Mind.
Season I, that is. I did not like Season II, Sam I Am.

I never really like the look of the show, and have never watched an episode. I think the whole idea of the martians taking our appearance to mingle and perv amongst us is something the martians would never do in real life. But then again, I have never met one (the closest I have come to is my mother).

They make up a significant portion of our government, over here. Ach, that's just the hook that I did like about the show! That seems to be a a common feature in my '80s TV obsessions - things that Might Be Going On Right Now. War of the Worlds, Knight Rider, The Incredible Hulk (yes, I know it started in the '70s, but I watched it in the '80s). Unlike our elected officials, they didn't perv amongst us. Unless you count the one where the woman posed as a hooker to collect humans for use.

I bought the 1st season DVD boxed set the week it came out, along with the re-mastered version of the 53 Pal movie. I didn't remember the production looking so low-budget, but then again, it was a pretty entertaining show that first season. I hated what Mancuso did to the series after he got a hold of it, but I still watched. The second season was cut mercifully short, in my opinion. As for Martians running around, masquerading as humans and/or government representatives... www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlBKuwDC33AA little paranoia never hurt anyone.

I didn't remember the production looking so low-budget Oh, *I* certainly did! I was astounded-- I found this show to be so bad that I don't think I even watched an entire episode. The only FX that actually looked good was footage they swiped from Pal's movie. Just my opinion of course, and if you like the show then bully for you. I wish I could have enjoyed it. Then I could join the "WOTWLA" that RoadsterGal apparently belongs to. (WOTW Lovers Anonymous)

I loved the TV show! Adrian Paul was a splendid addition to the cast in season two. I just wish I could get a hold of some of the DVDs so I don’t have to wait for it to come on Sci-Fi again.

It'll sure make the acronym a beeotch.
