A very interersting book even if the use of the airships were over rated.
Anyone else want to share their thoughts on it?

Yeah, I read this one. As you say, some interesting points. The attack on New York is compelling, and I like the (intentional or not) dark amusement in the arms race that follows. Overall though I find it too clunky and laboured to enjoy. It's basically just doesn't have any characters of note or lightness of touch, and everyone is a cypher.
The War of the Worlds works because it remembers to be first and foremost an adventure horror (if with completely amazing, novel and compelling ideas), much like the Invisible Man and the Time Machine. The War in the Air is just sort of like being lectured at, which I didn't enjoy.
So not a bad book, but I don't have any desire to reread it.
