have to agree, couldn't fathem why they killed off hicks and newt, definatly a missed opportunity, and also have to agree the uncut verion of alirn 3 was brilliant, but no other alien movies will come close to the suspense and thrills of alien and the rocking rollercoaster action packed aliens for one reason the guys who directed them.

Latest news today, Guy Pearce has joined Prometheus. With a bit of a '?' after that. CHUD.com initially warned that their source is unknown to them and that the news should be taken with a pinch of salt, but later updated that they have received more e-mails to back the story up. Looking more hopeful though, with a descent $150 million budget behind it.

OK to sum up based on all what i heard.
The Prometheus movie is a blend of two scripts: Alien Harvest and Shadow 19.
Charlize Theron plays a Corporate Merc Starship captain Vickers that engages in combat with a Space Jockey Starship in a Das Boot/ Wrath of Khan style space hunt.
The Prometheus is a super advanced terraforming starship that is stranded on a planet that a team is sent to fix, while they find wildlife has overrun the ship and the planet is also home to a benevolent yet highly advanced race. (The Space Jockeys?)
The Alien is a small ant like creature that through the arrival of humans infects larger creatures until its the huge ferocious monster we all know. Apparently it infects a space jockey and in turn becomes a huge 20 foot high monster at the end.
There is an Android called Andrew.
Ridley Scott says hes going to make the movie very unsettling to watch, a real creep me out movie.

www.alienprequelnews.co.uk has leaked set pictures and more cast news. The guy who plays Luther in the BBC detective show of the same name is a starship captain in this.

www.alienprequelnews.com/2011/06/prometheus-synopsis-leaked.htmlWARNING PLOT SPOILERS! The above synopsis was written by a fan, but 20th Century Fox got into a bit of a lather over it and their spin teams debunked it straight away! Well I feel this guy got a lot closer to the mark than he first realized, however, i don't know how close specifically. My own hunch tells me this guy is 75% right.

The following is a description of the teaser trailer show at Comic Con last week. www.alienprequelnews.com "And then the actual footage from the film starts, and its a huge flood of creeptastic imagery that recalls Alien but also a bit of 2001: A Space Odyssey. There are guys in pressure suits exploring an ancient chamber with weird hieroglyphs, and a guy in a spacesuit walking through a sliding door into a clean white chamber. And a guy (who might be Michael Fassbender) pulling a weird jelly-looking thing out of a canister. And as Ridley Scott's voiceover notes that things that may look small in the film will turn out to be important, there is a shot of a drop of blood on a finger. There is Charlize Theron on a table with bandages wrapped around her breasts, as though she's waking from hypersleep. And then the footage gets faster and more furious, with a guy in a visor looking down at something, a woman in a suit walking into a red entryway, and a globe, and then Scott says, "The cast find an establishment which is not what they expected it to be, it's a civilization but what we find in it is very uncivilized behavior." And then there is insane carnage and people with goop inside their space helmets and someone shooting a flamethrower, and mayhem breaking loose in confined spaces. Meanwhile, Scott's voiceover is saying that there will be biomechanoids and the film will "break new ground." We see a giant pale planet with rings around it. And then we see Charlize Theron doing pushups naked. Ridley Scott proises that there will be creatures that are "biomechanoid" which will be unique and "break new ground." Says Scott in the video, "There is a DNA of the original Alien, [but] that's as far as it goes, everything else is completely different. It's all about everything." And now the people in the footage are crying and screaming and freaking out and the video is flickering like an interrupted signal. And Scott concludes, 'Of course, what i want to do is scare the living shit out of you.'"
