When I was a child in the 1960's, I received a version of War of the Worlds on LP. I think I got it on my 8th birthday in 1968. I kept it in my record collection for years. When I moved into my current residence in 2003, It was missing. I thought that one of my sister's children might have made off with it, but it hasn't turned up. I wonder if anyone here has run across a stray copy and can give me information on finding one. If you are wondering what I am talking about, there is a reproduction of the cover on the DrZeus War Of The Worlds cover collection site. Here is a link to the cover of the LP I'm talking about: drzeus.best.vwh.net/wotw/other/wallywood1.jpgAny help would be appreciated.

Maybe you could search E-Bay for it once in a while. I remember seeing the LP a couple of times on E-Bay in the past... Johan

I don't understand the 'high camp adventure' angle. What did they do, get Kenneth Williams and Charles Hawtrey to narrate?
"Look at the size of 'is tentacles!"
"Oooh, matron!"

I found this site back in May, down loaded the record and discarded the address, it took a bit to find it again, but here it is if you still want it. mdp156.com/cavern/waroftheworlds.html

What is the Bell record like? Is it a period adaptation?

What is the Bell record like? Is it a period adaptation? Got a little more information from this website. thewarsoftheworlds.blogspot.comIt deviates quite a bit from the book - to begin with, Ogilvy does not die and functions as the main character's sidekick, and is later joined in his duty by a child character (not in the novel) and the artilleryman. It sounds fun, though.

Even this info is wrong, he says Its set in the correct time, If I remember correctly it's not. I think it's set around the 1930s the same as Orson Welles' radio adaptation. although I could be wrong. ;D

I've got a copy someone did for me on CD ages ago. IIR its set around the time of Orson's one. It's an odd adaptrion to say the least. I'll dig it out and whack it on again. Maybe it's called High Camp Adventure 'cos its InTENTS... geddit?

Well there's a thing you and my father have in common. You both have a stockpile of terrible puns.
