Hi everyone! I'm new around here, but I've lurked from time to time. I thought it was time I introduced myself. I'm a Writer/Filmmaker/Actor and junkie for good scifi/fantasy! My favorite contemporary authors are Tolkien(I guess you could call him contemporary), Leguin, Brooks, Donaldson, Jordan. I'm also an aspiring author. My present project is a Young Adult, Urban-Fantasy novel entitled "The Last." It's set in Los Angeles and tells the story a teenage boy who survives an apocalyptic event, to find himself befriended by a beast, called a Rolop, in a world where huge, violent machines and strange, savage creatures appear everywhere. Through a mystifying combination of visions and dreams the Rolop compels the boy to search out a little girl. Ultimately, we'll discover that through her, mankind will be destroyed and preserved. I initially made a proof of concept/Web series pilot and am attaching it here for you to see. I wrote, directed and did the visual effects and animation. Hope you like it. You'll have to expand to watch it in 720p HD as it was intended. Please let me know if this feels like a book or series of books you'd like to read. Thanks.

Hi plus2tohit and welcome aboard. 'The Last' looks like a great concept. That pilot film clip was brilliantly done, Good special effects and well acted. It left me wanting to see and know more. To me It felt like it would work best as a series of short books, a bit like James Axler's post apocalyptic 'Deathlands' series. If you've heard of J. Axler that is? ;D Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck with it, it looks like a winner to me.

I'm not familiar with the 'Deathland' series, but I'm definitely going to track it down. Speaking of "brilliant," I watched the 'Ternie Kell' clip. WONDERFUL! Where can I find out more about that project - artists, concepts, etc. So much of the art reminded me in tone of the Miyazaki film 'Naussica of the Valley of the Wind.' In the meantime, I'll try and keep you, and whoever else wants to, up to date on my progress with 'The Last.'

Thanks, Lonesome Crow, for the comments and the welcome. I'm not familiar with the 'Deathland' series, but I'm definitely going to track it down. There's plenty to go at with the 'Deathlands' series, it runs to 100 books now. ;D I don't know 'Naussica of the Valley of the Wind.' I'll have to look it up. There isn't anywhere set up at the moment for this project, it's kinda spread out, a bit here a bit there. The Music, lyrics and basic story was written by Brendan Perkins (better know to the forum members as POYKS) Here's a link to the album brendanperkinsmusic.com/terniekell.cfmThe artwork and additional storyline is being done by me, although things keep holding me up at the moment. Here are the first six pages of the comic that will - hopefully - accompany the album. (Click thumbnail to enlarge) Sorry for hijacking your thread, but you did ask. ;D Please do keep us informed about 'The Last' it looks great.

No worries on "hijacking the thread." You're right, I asked. I will definitely be keeping you more informed. In the meantime, I'd like to look into your project more. I think it's really worth pushing on.

I thought so! Can't wait to read your work. Though, a little terrified too. I lean much toward Fantasy-action adventure than horror.

In the meantime, I'd like to look into your project more. I think it's really worth pushing on. That's the problem, there isn't much more at the moment. I've done the first 14 pages of the comic and my work still only illustrates the first track of the album - Not counting the intro track - I suddenly realised how big a project it was going to be and how long it was going to take. I am still working on it from time to time but other projects get in the way. I need a lot of free time to get on with it and I just can't get enough free time.

...I need a lot of free time to get on with it and I just can't get enough free time. I COMPLETELY understand that. btw, I'm setting up my writing Blog here: srmacer.com/as-author/the-last/. Though not all the pages on the site are complete, on this page you'll see I'm setting up a means for those interested to follow along as I rough out my first draft. Kinda just wanting general impressions here--a sense of what you're understanding and not understanding, etc, etc. So, please, if you or anyone else is interested (or can carve out the time), I'd appreciate the eyes and ears on the project. Also, it would help me stay accountable. I haven't shared this anywhere else yet, but if you know of anyone who fits the criteria as set forth on the page (pretty much what I've already said in this post.), feel free to share it with them. Thanks.

The King of America: Epic Edition or The Killing Moon might be more your cup of tea rather than the Sinema books then. Let me know what you think when you get a chance to read them.
