SUMMARY: Before the 1988 War of the Worlds TV series, an earlier TV Series based upon "The War of the Worlds" was attempted, again using the 1953 George Pal movie as its basis. While it never went past the proposal phase, a YouTube user called "winchellchung" has uploaded that TV series pitch to be seen. It is split into 3 parts, each equally fascinating although forum members may particularly enjoy the 5+ minutes of test footage that would demonstrate the tenor of the show. Admittedly, the proposed show has a very "Star Trek"-like feel to it. There's even a model of a Tholian ship and a warp drive from a prop Enterprise ship in the background at one point! Anyway, rather then give all three YouTube links, here's the link to the user, where all three videos may be accessed. If this topic has been brought up before, I apologize - I looked all throughout the topics here on this board and could not find any mention of it. Enjoy. LINK: www.youtube.com/user/winchellchung

Interesting, the visual effects are pretty good considering it's age.

That's a wonderful find, Steve! I thought this pilot was considered lost. So it's a great surprise to see it popping up on the internet.
All in all, it's a very interesting look at what could've been. It was a good watch, if only for George Pal acting like the Walt Disney of sci-fi and the look at Otto Lump Lump's design in those artworks.
