I've all but given up on a CGI version being made / released. Personally, I don't think it will happen anytime soon.
There has to be reasons as to why this has not been done yet and I'm not convinced that there are individuals out there that aren't capable or lack the correct funding to execute a definitive / authentic version of this classic book / album.
It's my view that the live show is being milked until it reaches a saturation point, whenever that is. I'm not suggesting that this strategy is wrong and to be fair any business analyst would tell you that whilst there is a demand for the live show, especially one that produces a good profit, why would one change course.
I, like many others I'm sure, own a copy of the live DVD version and it's tremendous to watch and very enjoyable. That said, it comes nowhere close to what I'd assume a CGI film would be, when and if ever it is done. Sadly, however, I'm not hopeful of this outcome and can only sincerely pray that I'm proven wrong sometime in the not too distant future.
I'm totally convinced that a CGI version would be a success on a colossal scale. Jeff Wayne along with the WOTW album has stood the test of time and I've yet to meet anybody that truly dislikes it, on the contrary, it's a masterpiece.
So, my conclusion is this. The money is there. The technology is there. The desire and hunger are there. There's clearly a huge demand and calling for it. If Jeff Wayne doesn't intend creating a full length CGI film in line with the album well that's his call.
I just can't understand why the book hasn't been converted to a film version. There must be a reason.
