I am currently conducting research into H. G. Wells, and at present am trying to find things the he wrote which appeared in newspapers and magazines, worldwide, or articles which relate to Wells or books that he wrote. At present, I do have a large amount of articles (roughly 17GBs) which I have been able to obtain from different sources which are mainly American and Australian, but I know that I have a long way to go before I have everything and would be grateful to try and obtain any published in especially Britain. At the moment, the articles which I currently have, many of them in a digital format, have not been catalogued and at present have split the articles by publication, though there is a long way to go before I have them in an order that will make them easy to navigate.
Also, as some of you may know, there were two unauthorised versions of The War of the Worlds published in two American newspapers between the end of the 1897 and the beginning of 1898 entitled Fighters From Mars. I have been able to obtain the complete story, as it appeared, in The Boston Post (Jan 9, 1898-Feb 3, 1898), through various sources, but am having trouble obtaining a complete copy of the story which appeared in the New York Evening Journal (Dec 15, 1897-Jan 7(?), 1898). It would appear that there are various issues missing from archives in the United States, but I am sure that copies of these must exist some where. The issue that I am having trouble in obtaining is the one printed on Jan 1, 1898. If there is anyone out there that has a copy of the story that appeared in this issue I would be eternally grateful.
This might be a long shot, but does anyone out there have a digital copies of both the Atlantic Edition (1924) and the Essex Edition (1927), or even copies of these to make digital copies of, as these are very hard to get hold of, as I am having trouble obtain copies of these, and many libraries that I am contacting just seem to be giving me the run around.
If you can help me, regardless of what you may have, I will be eternally grateful.
I hope to hear from you soon. E-mail me at waroftheworlds@outlook.com, using the subject: H. G. Wells.
