Thanks for a very cool link, Mr. Fl.. er.., Rusti. (I think...)
Although I'm unfamiliar with this movie, I am familiar with the art of Jean Giraud (Mobius).
In addition to Alien, his work has been featured many times in the art magazine 'Heavy Metal'. (In France 'Metal Hurlant'). His talents are indeed incredible.
The clip reminds me of another obscure, animated treasure (which I own) called 'La Planète Sauvage' or 'Fantastic Planet'.

Moebius has done loads of great work- all the spaceship design from the Fifth Element is by him.
I love the music on this clip- Bilitis, by George Lai.

It's a brilliant film. I remember watching it with my brother, oh probably about 20 years ago. It was on on the first Saturday of the christmas holidays (I think they might have put it on a couple of times in that slot in the late 1980's). but I've not seen it on since, and me and my brother are desperate to see it again.
The version we saw was the BBC version which was dubbed into english, OK probably a minus factor for the purists out there but much better if you're a small boy trying to watch it.
The twist at the end is pure genius.
I was looking for it online a few weeks ago, and the prices were astronomical, £90+ for a copy!

Here's some Japanese stuff I have caught and enjoyed. Some of these are on the more adult side. I'll use wiki refs where applicable for ease on these. 'Perfect Blue'- Excellent pschological thriller about a j-pop star, her stalker and what happens when she decides to become an actress. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_Blue'The Macross Saga' Starting with an alien spaceship crashing on earth, the inhabitants utilise the technology salvaged to rebuild the ship. This comes in handy when an alien race attacks. Vovers well humans wrestling to control a technology they have only just begun to understand. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macross'Roujin Z'- Funny comedy thriller featuring an old man and his rampaging mecha hospital bed! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roujin_Z'Blood:The Last Vampire'. A vampiric girl works for the government fighting Vampire Demons in post WWII Japan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_The_Last_Vampire'Ghost in the shell' An inspiration to the makers of 'The Matrix'. I was lent the two TV series spin-offs 'Ghost in the Shell: SAC (Stand alone Complex) 1 and 2' by a bloke in the pub (!) and these are also very good. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_in_the_shell'Burn Up Excess'. A decidedly non-serious series looking at a special operations unit of the police in Japan's future. Full of 'Fan Service' (basically, non essential to the plot sexual references) but nevertheless, highly entertaining, action packed and genuinely funny in parts with likeable characters. Warning: the DVDs reportedly feature a 'jiggle count' as an extra! ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burn_Up_Excess'Devil Man' Genuinely disturbing, but fascinating story, of a man who is possessed by a demon lord and can use the demons powers to combat the Demons infesting the Earth. www.cjas.org/~bchow/gonagai/devilman/dm.html'Violence Jack'. Apparently a folluw up to 'Devil Man' although I can't see the link. A huge man uncovered from rubble after a devastating earthquake despatches various bad guys in scuffles between warring factions of survivors. Not one for the kids. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence_JackI'll post more as I think of them.

I remember Roujin Z, Evilnerfherder! That's a lovely film - really amusing satire with some genuine points well made. You gotta feel for that poor old guy!

Moebius has done loads of great work- all the spaceship design from the Fifth Element is by him. I love the music on this clip- Bilitis, by George Lai. Gaaah! I should have known better- realised this when the music popped back into my bonce this afternoon... Music is actually Ennio Morricone's Chi Mai. My folks had a compilation called Reflections, which had that AND Bilitis on. Bilitis, by the way, is also a lovely piece of music. Chi Mai seems to get me somewhere very deep that I don't feel comfortable bringing to the surface too often. Not sure why or what exactly it is- there's just something there in the music and the way it's played that seems to grab me. That, of course, is why Morricone is so successful as he is!!

Not an Anime movie, but I MUST recommend Starchaser - Legend of Orin. One movie I LOVED as a kid, also one of the very first animated movies to use CGI. I recall seeing it on Tomorrows World just before it was released. Great Ship designs, and the Cyborg Organic/Mechanical baddies rocked. I just wish I could find it in DVD. Also Titan AE is a great underated animated movie.
