War rocket 'AJAX'? Check. Hawkmen? Check. Battles and busty beauties? Check. Soundtack by: QUEEN. Check. What more could one need? Flash Gordon is always a blast!
And 'Battle Beyond the Stars' was cool. A bit 'Star Wars' clandestine perhaps, but a lot of fun. The score by Horner is indeed memorable.

Personally I refuse to consider "The Shape of Things to Come" an "H.G. Wells travesty" because it has literally nothing to do with Wells' story other than the title. Hence the travesty - defamation - exploitating his name - hang 'em! Apparently it's written as a sequel to the Things to Come movie. I remember Starcrash being shown on ITV and them cutting out some of the cheesey bits of dialogue. What else can be thrown into the cauldron....oh yeh - Supersonic Man! Anyone else seen it? I saw it at the flix and the projector broke down along with the audience.

And Hawk the Slayer is pretty awful as you say Nerf. Especially the part when Hawks' love of his life is shot with an arrow that wobbles when Hawk catches her. I've said it before, listen carefully to the (quite respectable) Hawk the Slayer score and it does appear to sound like the composer was influenced by a certain Mr Wayne KR

Ahh Krull with Bernard Bresslaw and Todd McCarthy Not forgetting an early appearance from a certain Robbie Coltrane...complete with dodgy 'tache (nothing wrong with dodgy 'taches in films though, of course ;D) KR

Gotta agree with you about the Hawk soundtrack.

Yeah, Hawk the Slayer has a pretty good soundtrack. I just love how they managed the curious mix of medieval/disco/folk prog and still found room for the Wayne influences. I got my Dad to 'get hold of a copy' just so I could edit out some of the music for my Mp3 player.
Nothing beats Flash for music though, it fits the film perfectly and is my favourite Queen album (dispite the dodgy way it's edited together).
Krull's cool too. I love the design of the slayers (and who could complain about the presence of Lysette Anthony?). There are a few bits that could have been tightened up a bit in the film but it's still pretty watchable. Wasn't that one also a Horner soundtrack?

Robbie Coltrane was in that? Of course, I recognise him now. He died, didn't he? Like so many of those brave thiefs. "I was wrong, it was worth it." *Sniff*

Poor Robbie also got whacked in Slipstream, if anyone remembers that Bill Paxton, Mark Hamil and Bob Peck affair.

War rocket 'AJAX'? Check. Hawkmen? Check. Battles and busty beauties? Check. Soundtack by: QUEEN. Check. What more could one need? Flash Gordon is always a blast! "Flash Gordon" has a lot I could do without-- like the (American) football stuff-- but does have some great if cheezy stuff in it. Max von Sydow as Ming is perfect! On another forum I'm on, one guy swears up and down he was at the premiere, and sitting close enuff to producer Dino de Laurentiis to see him turn around and glare at the audience when they laughed at the campy bits. I dunno if that's true, the guy may have been spinning "tall tales". But if the camp wasn't intentional, then how strange that its so entertaining!
